Video: To commemorate this rare occasion of persistent heavy snowfall in London & the South East, I decided to head out to Rainham (in Essex) to do a quick spot by High Speed 1. I had originally planned to go to Boxley, but Southeastern mainline trains were affected by Sunday engineering work. By the time I got to Rainham there was just light snow flurries, which was a bit of a let down but there was still a fair amount of settled snow on the ground which is rare in the London area.
For the most part all national and international rail services were running fine with a few delays, quite a few of the Eurostar trains I caught in this videos were running between 30 to 60 mins late, but Southeastern High Speed 395s were mostly all running to time.
This video showcases the decline in Class 373s and the rise in Class 374s, the last video I did at Rainham in 2016 there were much more 373s but due to the scrapping of them more will disappear. Thankfully I caught 1 refurbished one at least.
Because this spot was quite short (mainly due to it being unbearably cold), I'm uploading this one ahead of some of my months older spots for the snowy occasion.
*The first clip was taken from a bus stop in Bromley (South East London) while I was travelling to Rainham.
TRAINS INCLUDED:
Eurostar Class 373 TGV TMSTs (e300s) & Class 374 Velaro e320s, Southeastern Class 395 Javelins.
