@Delta_NWAB747fan
@Delta_NWAB747fan 8 ай бұрын
@@TheGrindcorps when a pit is done correctly, it’s safer and better than any other tactic to stop a suspect. Ending the chase early is the best possible option, other tactics let the chase go on longer. Spikes can make a chase more dangerous if not pitted after deploying. Tracking by helicopter, using a tracker, and disengaging pursuit are arguably more dangerous. People say when cops stop chasing, suspects slow down. Many videos and chases out there disprove that. People with nothing to lose will want to get away as far and as fast as possible and fatal crashes will happen with cops miles behind. Instead of criticizing the tactics, criticize the people that don’t do it right and the ones that put them in that decision in the first place. Not that hard of a concept…

The problem with these types of interviews is they show a very small and focused portion of what is done and considered. They tend to focus on the number of pit maneuvers performed but ONE chase ending with a TVI or a suspect stopped, tends to have stopped an uninvolved individual or family not being injured. The pit is done to STOP the threat. Unlike cities like LA or Detroit or Chicago that follow them around and don't care if their suspect kills someone. And the majority of the time that the pit is performed is BECAUSE other departments like West Memphis or Little Rock PD has REQUESTED the trooper to pit the fleeing suspect. They would rather the state do it and damage a trooper car instead of a city vehicle.

Arkansas highway cops are extremely reckless and certainly a danger to society. This is the same agency that slammed a pregnant woman into a wall because she understandably didn't want to pull over on the side of a highway. Many people have been seriously injured or killed by ASP, many of the pursuits involved no serious crime or even a victim. Criminal Defense Lawyers need to sue the ASP into the stone and hopefully encourage legislation to prevent them from engaging in these extremely reckless and unnecessary pursuits.

It's as simple as this if an officer has the vehicles information and if a high speed pursuit could in any way endanger the public the police should call off the pursuit PERIOD. They can later arrest the driver or owner of said vehicle. These high speed pursuits more often than not unnecessary. Granted fleeing felons and certain other situations say the tags on fleeing vehicle are bogus and a few other situations pursuits are warranted. ASP has carried this shit to far cause high speed pursuits ALWAYS have a chance of endangering innocents. Let em run off then arrest at home. The only time pursuits should continue to a pit maneuver is in cases of fleeing felons and where it is determined that if the vehicle is let go they somehow are a continued public danger.

If you chase someone and stop chasing they stop running and being desperate to flee And if the officer knows who they are by chance even better pick them up when they are least expecting it would be good or better than flipping cars destroying public funded property What if a bad guy picks up say his neighbor from work and they don’t know he is wanted police spot him. Panic sets in he takes off. The neighbors is along for a death sentence with out any thing to do with why you was after the bad guy in the first Or the stubborn mother with her kids who just wants to get her kids home safe !!! 40 years ago we didn’t have this crap going on You all wore a basic police uniform not military style with body armor The whole image of police has been tarnished by the bad apples I do respect law enforcement and we do need you out there for sure but in your best cappacity

@user-sd5lk8kp9s So you think it's safe for a random car to fly through stoplights at 120mph and nobody do nothing? You're arguing safety but on the same token trying to justify a person putting their lives and others in danger for NO reason.... But the Police are Wrong for trying to Stop them? The person running is in the right, is that what you're telling me?

I've seen videos of them performing PITs on old ladies in the wrong car, pregnant women, motorcycles, and people mid medical emergency trying to get to the hospital. I'm certain some of these troopers would PIT someone for jaywalking if they thought they could get away with it. Forcing someone to crash has its place but Arkansas needs to reign in how often this is used and hold troopers personally accountable for all those bad or improper PITs.

Individual mistakes don't mean the policy is a bad policy. And the PIT of the woman driving recklessly at over 100 mph rushing someone else to the hospital wasn't a mistake. Either call an ambulance or drive like you have some sense. If the police get behind you, pull over and let them know what is going on.

@@Seedy168 Flashers alone can no longer be used to tell who is running versus who is waiting for a place to pull over. That's because during chases, car thieves and other criminals are turning on their flashers in a desperate attempt to keep from being PITTED. The police have to look at other indicators - is the person passing up safe spots to pull over, is the person going under the speed limit or well over it, etc.

@@289Mustang67 considering you said “no longer” does that mean that it was legal when the woman did it but now it isn’t? If so, that still doesn’t put the woman at fault for anything. Also show where it says that flashers can’t be used to indicate that you want to pull over to a safe place.

This type of thing can only work in Arkansas where the population of the whole state is 3 million. If you did this in Southern Cal where the population of L.A. country alone is 10 million, you're guaranteed to hurt an innocent bystander no matter how much training you receive.
