You are getting such a great variety of food from your garden right now. And everything looks so perfect. I know the UK is good place to grow with your maritime climate but you guys are good gardeners. And you use greenhouses to help with the heat loving plants. Good luck with those melons! We are finally getting some cooler rainy weather here which is much needed after all the heat. I don't have a lot of brassicas for the fall but some and they look ok and just put some kale in yesterday. Just trying to maintain the pests. And my winter carrots germinated well along with a final bean crop so the fall looks promising. I will be putting my winter spinach in at the end of the month. Meanwhile I'm going to take a little vacation next week at the beach and hope the garden survives without me watering every day.

Thank you for your kind words Frank! It sounds like your garden is doing wonderfully too, especially with the kale and winter carrots. Glad to hear that you have some cooler weather, we are feeling the remnants of a hurricane that you guys had over the pond, but it was short lived and we are expecting temps of 30 degrees plus for the next 3 to 4 days. I hope you have a great vacation and enjoy that beach, the garden will be fine and so will you after a break!

Harvests are coming steady now here in Chicagoland. I pulled all the Borlotto Beans and shelled them. YUM. Tomatoes are coming in strong, unfortunately blight has arrived and that's something I've never experienced before. Cucumbers ar and peppers have been amazing too. Almost all the onions are in now. A few fails but nothing big otherwise. Great video!

I grew Cuor de Bue last year and saved seed for this year. I sowed them this year and am just picking my first tomatoes today.I had one for my lunch with a Halloumi steak- delicious. Last year I made passata with them. I am not mad about the flavour but they are useful for me as they have very few seeds. They don't seem to be as big as they were last year. I am also growing San Marzano but I may try Roma next year. I have Emir and sugar baby melons growing in my little greenhouse- \|I'm very excited! Quite a few squash growing on my plants too. Still using squash that I harvested and stored last year. Most of my onions are harvested now- just a few left to harvest later this week. I am so grateful for you introducing us to marathon calabrese- such an amazing variety. I am still harvesting side shoots from my March sowing- super value plant. Also for your recommendation of Passandra cucumber. Perfect size for my husband for 2 days lunches- no more waste- fantastic. Happy gardening ot you both 🙂

I like to roast them with a selection of other veg, depending what is in season. Toms and courgettes in summer, and maybe root veg in winter. It's also good to pop in a Clove of elephant garlic with the roast😀

I love Honeycomb as less prone to splitting than Sungold. Need to find a nice red so might give red cherry a go. Super Sauce first time growing, they’re massive, other new varieties this year for me are, Riesling F1 a baby plum, Garnet and Vivacious F1. Also growing Shimmer (lovely), Tigrella & Black Russian (giving them a miss next year), then San Marzano for sauces & Costoluto Fiorentino & Marmande as beef steaks…phew 🎉

Good show Barry, I've only got 1 decent size mellon, 1/2 a dozen golf balls, from 6 plants, got my fingers crossed for a new tom I was trying 'Berkely Tie Die' it won a blind taste test at some US homesteading show 5 yrs ago from hundreds of varieties and thousands of tasters, took me 5 rs to get some seeds to the UK, thought it was a regular size tom but mine came out beefsteak size, no toms ripe yet tho!

Had a green cabbage this week which I shredded (half) and fried with onion Wonderful. I had some beets too, spuds and bottled some shallots I planted out some brassicas but Very few. PSB sprouted I transplanted chicory (which sulked) never grown that before I have total bean failure but my allotment club has oodles of them in a poly tunnel so I’ve had a share! I made 9 jars of jam blackberry and apple, gooseberries from frozen fruit and more rhubarb from frozen. Managed to give a jar of each to our daughter &kids My carrots on the ibc tank are growing nicely just like yours. I’ve got kale and I used a peg to close the leaves over a cauliflower that is quite small just 3 tomatoes so far but otherwise. Its a time of abundance my freezer is full of soft fruit! Any tips on storing red bell peppers? I have been offered a carrier bag full and just can’t say no! Love your videos Thank you Pete

Bell peppers freeze very well or make a tomato sauce adding the bell peppers into them. Freeze and use as and when you need a tomato sauce!

I appreciate your compliments on the tomatoes! Growing those carrots was a great experiment and so far doing really well, and I’m glad you noticed! As for the compost, I’d suggest checking the balance of greens and browns- turning it and adding water can help but not to saturation!
