It would have been a fairly boring video if Dyson hadn't come along

Nice of Dyson to let you catch a couple fish. That was a sweet camping spot. Didn’t see too many bugs either

Yep Dyson was kind enough to let us catch a few. It was early in the season so the bugs weren't too bad---they made up for it in some of my following trips haha

Cool area for sure. Pretty lake and a moosey audience. Man, Dyson slayed it. Nice brookies.

Could you share more about your setup? flies used- you mentioned midge but i can't quite catch which kinds. Do you use sinking leaders? Any weights? What depth are you trying to fish and how far from shore? Certain times of day you focus on? I have been getting skunked in utah so many times and just trying to learn. Thanks for any info you're willing to share!

He was using a size 12 black and copper chironomid hanging about 5 ft under an indicator. He was using a single handed spey line. He could roll cast the line quite a bit farther out than us. I think thats why he was doing better than the rest at the lake we camped at. I typically do better 15 ft or less from the bank when using an indicator but that wasn't the case at that lake.

This has been my first season fly fishing and I’ve been backpacking lake hopping in the unitas. I’ve gotten a fair amount on drys but for nymphs do you want to set the hook when the indicator goes fully under or bumps down. I’ve gotten some on nymphs but I think they just hooked themselves. I’m not sure when to wait and when to set the hook definitely lost some fish because of it. Thanks

I see so much as a twitch on my indicator and I set the hook. You get far more bumps than you realize. A lot of time fish come up from the bottom for your fly. You won't see anything on your indicator until they swim off with it. They often spit it before you know you got a take

What a swampy mess that was!

That still didnt stop you from catching all the big fish 🎣

I backpack with Asolo Fugitives. I'm on my fourth pair. They typically last three or four seasons---they are great boots
