Riddle me this.... why do the minor vibrations of the shields attract worms but OTHER worms don't attract worms? The worms are loud as shit when they swim through the sands and it makes no sense that a 400m long worm would give 2 fucks about some dude with a shield 3 miles away but completely ignore another worm (which is their only natural predator) 5-6 miles away.

Regarding the loudness of other worms compared to shields, keep in mind that worms live in drum sand, which amplifies noise massively. More than likely, the shields are actually louder than a sandworm on its own

Haven't finished the book yet, but Duke Leto and Jessica aren't married cuz of political reasons, not really cuz she's not highborn. Some aristocrats/royalty do have Bene Gesserit spouses, so it's not as if BG aren't allowed to be the legal wives. It's just that for future political alliances, Leto can't marry Jessica. Also. Bloodlines are hard to trace in the BG unless you're way up the ladder, so Jessica could have easily been some duke's unknown daughter...And that would make her nobility as well...

But if you have shielding that protects from projectiles only then that means people can go back to wearing actual armor against medieval weapons. Olden day armor only went out of style because firearms made wearing it pointless. But if firearms are made pointless then future science fantasy tech would and should not only revisit the use of olden times armor, but also improve it. But, whatever, doesn't matter, the writer clearly wanted epic sword fights with legally distinct from Jedi powers in space.
