Litterally crying rn. Thanks for making this video I currently just got out of this toxic relationship. The people I used to surround myself with wood smoke weed and take acid every day. I’m glad to say that I never contributed the most to things that they did. And it was hard to be surrounded by those people and get healthy. I have always looked up and wanted to be a healthy person. I’m finally achieving that goal and watching your videos help me a lot! Thankyou for all you do ❤️ Amber

Exactly! It's an opportunity to see who really cared about you. It could become shocking to know who really did & who didn't. But those who are with me in the past are still with me now even though we're different (non vegans). So, yeah it'll be sad & shocking only at first :)

This is all true. When I was diagnosed with a brain tumer (thankfully benign) 2 yrs ago, I really stopped to think about my health environment and did a complete 180 degree in diet. I was a vegetarian for a long time and decided to commit to the vegan diet. How I prepared my food and what I purchsed did influence my mom, which I am so grateful for. Seeing someone else make changes can really encourage another person to make better and more critical choices about what they put into their body. We both eat very heathy whole foods meals and I have been exercising 5-6 days a week since my diagnosis and am in a much better place both physically and mentally. Environmental awareness is key for health success. Glad you're posting more of these talks Hannah.

I am a 50yr old mother of 6( aged 15 ,16,17,20,21,31) and a hubby and I stopped eating with them at meal time so I wasn't tempted to eat what they where.. I cleaned out one fridge just for me..I stopped watching tv (cause the food ads OH MY Gwad) after a year my 2 girls went vegetarian(YAY!!) and now 3 year on my hubby and sons are transitioning to a plant based life(YIPEE!) I have so far lost 62kilos(136 lbs)..my kids now walk 3 kilometres a day with me..So it is doable....just got to put yourself as a priority....totally love this video content very encouraging

Try "nice" cream. you may of heard of it before, but just in case all you do is take frozen bananas and blend them in a high speed blender or in a food processor. I like to add cocoa powder to make it chocolate, or puree some raspberries or strawberries and pour it over the top! It has a soft serve consistency and I find it zaps the ice cream craving 99% of the time! And it's super healthy and Super cheap! Ice cream for a summer breakfast? Can't beat it!

I am healthy and doing exercises, jogging, etc.. but I am doing this alone because I really find hard to meet people that are interested in doing the same. I know good people, but most of them are not vegan or vegetarian..don't want to exercise and drink or smoke :-( I tried to meet new people but doesn't seem so easy to find the "right" ones that like all that stuff all together. But at least I am able to do this by myself ;-)

It's hard when the common misconception is that all vegans only eat salads & fruit. I constantly Snapchat and IG story my food, and even my most meat eating friends/family will reach out to me and tell me how good it looks and that they want to try it. A lot of them can't believe what I'm eating is vegan and without oil- because it's so good. My husbands aunt is trying to go more vegan , and she reached out to me saying she was frustrated because she felt like all she was eating was salad. I said "oooooh girl let me come over....we're gonna make corn chowder, chili, broccoli cheddar rice, ice cream, potato fries, and you'll STILL lose weight" 😹

I've been hoping for the last 9 years that my husband would join me in eating a healthy vegan diet and being up for activities. Unfortunately, the healthier I get- the less healthy he becomes. The fridge is filled with meat, cheese, and the pantry is packed full of junk. He gets sicker every year and repeatedly scoffs at my vegan food. I'm at a loss. I'm so alone in wanting a healthy lifestyle. Thank God there are vegan KZbinrs like Hannah and wonderful vegan doctors writing books. It makes me feel less alone.

For all the moms out there. what she is saying is true. I'm a mom of three, and the plan was never to change my husband, or my kids AND me. I just changed me. then they followed me. I never spoke of changing anyone but me. which I think is Key*. I just said, I was doing a month challenge to eat vegetarian (which lead out family going vegan). And 2 weeks in, people wanted what I was eating. and now my family is planet base/vegan for over 2 years. All willingly, and now it's effecting our friends. have two other families starting to want and change their diet.

I haven't been struggling for the past 3 weeks because I finally followed your advice on adding MORE NON STARCHY VEGETABLES....OH MY GOD! I literally lost weight TOO fast. 10 lbs so far. From 125 to 115. It's insane that I've been vegan for 4 years and it's taken me this long to eat more actual vegetables LOLLL.... Thank you so much for your constant guidance and inspiration - that sounds cheesy af, but it's true. I've also been listening to Mr & Mrs Vegan about not eating sugary fruits in the morning, so that my body can actually burn fat instead of just using the fruit sugar. Besides oats, my main meal has been: Shitload of FROZEN VEGGIES (mixed veg, broccoli), 2 TBL brown rice, 2 TBL tofu for creaminess & or meatiness, 2 TBL beans, fresh sauteed onion & mushroom, nutritional yeast, lemon, pepper, salt, & topped with a little bottled balsamic reduction drizzled on top. HOLY SHIT. It's so good I never get tired of this meal. I LOVE YOU!

Hi Hannah! One day when I was searching for weight loss videos and I saw your very inspirational video based on your weight loss journey and i became SO INSPIRED. I have never felt confident with my body. Since I am only 12 years old and 160 pounds I knew that i NEEDED to make a change. I've always wanted to look good and feel good in a bikini for this summer, so i started my weight loss journey 6-6-17 (one day before i wrote this). My plan is too eat only one serving for every meal I eat, and get on my exercise equipment at home for 30 minutes a day not to overwhelm myself in the process and be too tired not to do anything. But anyways, thank you for being such an amazing inspiration to me, hopefully i didnt make this too boring lol❤️

Good luck to you. I encourage you to never restrict your calories, or you will struggle with cravings and likely gain the weight back. Eating is a good thing, and fitness is it's perfect compliment. Don't be afraid to sweat hard 4-5 days a week. Your number one goal should be to speed up your metabolism which means eating on a regular schedule (before school, lunch, after school and dinner), exercising (4-5 days a week) and sleeping 8+ hours a night. Wake up, slowly drink 1 liter of water, wait 10 minutes, have a piece of fruit and sweat for 30-45 min. Watch TV, listen to music, make it happen. After your workout, drink another liter of water (only if you sweat a lot, otherwise drink a half a liter), wait 10 minutes and have breakfast. Get into a routine. You're a school girl so it should be exactly the same M-F. On the weekends, have fun, relax and stay on your eating schedule. Sleep in and play all day. I will help in anyway I can if you need tips. Message me @freedomcuisine on Instagram if you want any diet advice or any advice in general. I do understand that getting up early can be a struggle so your number two goal should be to go to bed at 8 pm M-F. Lights off. No exceptions. You will thank me one day for that life changing tip. Staying up late is the biggest mistake young ladies can make. If you get to bed early, you will feel better in the morning for your sweat session, you will absorb more knowledge at school and you will stay youthful for longer. Have fun and again, good luck to you XO

Signs that you are restricting your calories: Sleepy at school, food cravings, moody, starving after school, not sleeping well, low energy in workouts, etc. A good way to get enough calories but to not over eat is to plan out your caloric intake. My guess would be that you need 100cals before your workout (1 banana), 5-600 calories for breakfast, 5-600 calories for lunch, 3-400 calories for after school snack and 5-600 calories for dinner. Stick to fruit smoothies, dates, cereal, oatmeal, bread, plant burgers, pasta, rice, potatoes, burritos, vegan pizzas, etc. Use condiments to make your food yummy! I do understand that your parents might cook for you and I hope that they are on board with a high carb low fat vegan diet for you. Otherwise you gotta get in the kitchen and cook for yourself. After school, eat your 3-400 calorie snack, do your homework and get in the kitchen. You can prep your lunches, make awesome dinners and even prep your breakfasts so you can save time in the morning. I believe in you and hope for the best for you!

Well said and thank you. I’m 50 and noticing the changes physically and mentally that can come with my age. I was very active when I was in my teens, 20s and 30s and well I let life experiences that are bad to be excuses to be unhealthy. Now I’ve lost 10 lbs in the last three months. I was a runner in my day at 14 miles a day, but stopped abruptly due to a muscle tear off my Achilles’ tendon. With the therapy I never felt 100% and I let negative thoughts nix out positivity. I’ve finally pulled back my positive thinking and I’ve have that positive perspective again. Your vlogs have been part of that. Thank you!

I say this like every day to my kids, friends, family and myself. You are the company you keep, and your surroundings affect everything about you. I have done this with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and even depression. I am down 70lbs (most of it was in a year and a half, i have not moved in the last 6 months. in fact i have gone up a couple pounds) I have been stuck for a while and it is the hardest change of them all because I have 4 kids and I can't just get away until I am reset like I did with every thing else. but it is slowly helping them and I know I will be there at some point. This is such a great Vlog subject. It reminds me of our psychology & counselling tutor. She held up cards of a flower and weeds, both thriving from the sun and water, nurtured by the Universe. Then she showedus a card of the flower and weeds dying, with no sun, no water, nothing to nature them. The lesson was to learn that we can all be the best version of ourselves if we are given the right environment in which to thrive, that we all can reach our own personal best. I am soo thankful that I found your Vlog. I, like many others here and yourself, lost my way - sometimes you need a signpost to point you back in the right direction. This video in particular sums up everything for me, it's everything I would tell others, but I forgot to give the same to myself.🌞

YES YES YES !! I've been living through this realization right now and I've come to realize that my job is killing my health. I've worked as a bike messenger for 5 years and even though doing 100 to 400km a week I've constantly gained weight! Because the way of eating (time, amount, with stress) caused digestive issues (and past alcohol and cigarette consumption too) and the frustration of my lifestyle lead me to "numb out" with sugar => weight gain and unhealthy body. So yes, changing friends, job, living situation is a BIG part of being healthy in your body! Yes lifestyle & diet are unseparable! And now that I've realized that I'm progressively changing my life. =)

I just started following you and like your message about fueling yourself and exercising. This video makes me sad to think that someone would stop being friends with me because I'm fat. I lost 160 lbs before I became vegan and was still overweight. I became vegan and gained 80 lbs back after an injury/depression due to grief. My husband also became vegan shortly after I did. We eat healthy, we hike, we both exercise and I started running this year. All my friends are vegan and eat healthfully, many are fellow hikers as well. I'm at the point where I weigh 300 lbs and don't expect that will change due to my history. When I did lose weight, it was due to heavy restriction and exercising for hours every day. You nailed it! I have became a vegetarian at the age 9 and met my husband when I was 16, almost 19years later and three kids later, I became a vegan about 7 years ago but my kids and husband was full on junk foods people except my youngest was a veggie. Now because I took matters into my own hands and just topped buying junk foods and dairy, my whole family is dairy free, two of my kids eat the same way I do and my one son and my husband still eat meat if we are out and about or if he buys it for a grill out, which isn't often. We are all super healthy now and my husband hasn't even ate meat in well over a month. He is also getting into running with me and now my kids workout with me too! Keep up spreading the love

another aspect to the seed and flower analogy is the process it takes to become a flower. You plant the seed and at each stage give it what it needs and dont judge it for not being a flower yet, because you understand that there are different stages of development it needs to go through to become the flower.

Honestly there is nothing wrong with having something in your diet that isn't 'typical vegan' or not '100% vegan' everyone is different, and if you don't completely fit into a category, I think it says a lot about you because you have your own mind and you don't have to fit into what anyone wants you to be. They like cheese/ice cream...let them have it! If they are eating mostly healthy...whats the big deal?

but to be honest (I think you've mentioned this point before too), the more I am obsessed with 'being healthy' and fitness, the more I would end up eating. I would even think I need to treat myself with junk food because I've been healthy the whole week. However in a more social situation when my focus is not on food but socialising, maybe I would still make healthy food choice because I'm vegan, but I will definitely eat way less. The social isolation is the main reason that I gain 30lbs.
@HighCarbHannah
@HighCarbHannah 7 жыл бұрын
Why are you isolating yourself though? Like I said in the video, you should be hanging around with other people who have similar interests to you :)
@weiyaofang9258
@weiyaofang9258 7 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Isolating myself can be a choice, but that's more of a physiological perspective of overeating. I think the point is that imperfection is okay. Losing weight is not a competition. I need to stop thinking I'm a loser when eating 'unhealthy' food. There are things/ ideas more important in our lives than obsessing over being perfect. I think that is also one of the reasons that I isolated myself, because I didn't want people to think 'I'm a failure', which I realised that majority of the time is my own assumption.
@michellesivolob2363
@michellesivolob2363 7 жыл бұрын
You're not alone! I'm the same way. When I become obsessed with eating healthy and being perfect then I tend to isolate myself because the people around me don't have a super healthy lifestyle like I try to have. Then I think too much about food and binge/over-eat. Socializing and not obsessing over perfection helps me focus less on food which helps so much. xoxo

Weiyao Fang - Learning to show yourself the kindness and forgiveness that you would show any other person is, I think, the key to losing weight/ maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If your friend ate some chips while trying to eat more healthy/ plant-based and started berating themselves, you would reach out and gently stop them, and build them back up. Show yourself that same kindness. Allow yourself the room to make errors, because it's going to happen! I know that a while back when I was going veg, I allowed myself a meal a week to eat what I wanted, regardless if it was veg or not. (I stipulated that I could have that cheat meal whenever I wanted, but if I could, try to only have it if I have been craving a particular food for three days, as that may be a sign of deficiency, and I couldn't get rid of it by veg means.) Since I gave myself that forgiving space, I was much more relaxed- I had a back-up plan. Before, I'd "cheat" several times a week- when I relaxed and allowed myself the process, and showed myself kindness, I ended up only using it once a month, IF that! Hang in there, and remember to treat yourself with compassion, too.

I just found your videos yesterday and it was because my husband and I have been trying to get healthy and we were researching intermittent fasting and you had a video where you briefly talk about intuitive eating. since last night I have watched so many of your videos and I am finding them so relatable and real and helpful of course! Right now I am a pescatarian and I am tired of always trying new things and attempting to get motivated about eating healthy and being consistent at the gym but always falling short. My husband and I are going to follow your recipes and go vegan! We want this to be a lifestyle change. I want to have the life and body I always dream of and admire. We currently live with our in laws so it is going to be difficult to have our own space for groceries and such but we will figure it out! Thank you !! :)

Amen I love this!! I had to change my life and my environment several times over the last couple of years. When I was a senior in high school I pretty much had to stop hanging out with my friends all together so I could stop partying and get caught up to graduate. Now in my adult life, I am trying to meet new friends in places I like to go, gym, yoga, church, because a lot of my friends still live very unhealthy lives and I have a desire to move forward and not just get drunk or high all the time. You don't have to conform and it's okay to be alone sometimes to do what's best for you 👌

you're one of my favorite youtubers ❤ you seem so authentic and you radiate compassion. i feel it! thank you for creating your videos, im not overweight and i never have been but i have body dysmorphic disorder, and much of it is most likely due to experiences i had growing up which have caused me to think a certain way, but another reason i experience it now (i just turned 24 by the way) is due to the food i put in my body. i know this because ive been vegan before and my mind was so much calmer, and now that ive been vegetarian the past year, ive noticed i have an increase in general anxiety and depression, which ultimately have lead to me not viewing my body lovingly and compassionately. your videos inspire me because you have such good energy and the food you show us looks so delicious, and it inspires me to consume more plant based meals. i especially love your meals because they're simple, and are so easy to make, i would love to see the recipe for the curry you made in your video for your most recent what i ate in a day, where your friends from canada came to visit ❤

get a gym membership or find some meetups in your area where you can make friends. The thing is, when 2 people do these type of things together, it enables eachother. Because you think, this is fine were both doing it. Once you start being active and hes at home sitting on the couch he will start to wonder if he is lazy and he will follow because he will be bored. Its basic human nature. Get active and live your life :)

I started cooking healthy foods for myself and my husband would always eye the food and ask about it, eventually he just wanted to eat what I was making for myself and now we are both vegan. I don't tell him that he should/shouldn't eat something. He's lost more weight than me, and that's enough for him to keep going.

Hi Hannah, I've been a vegetarian all my life but recently decided to start a vegan life style. Indian get-together events even vegetarian foods usually have either dairy or overt fats and at first I was wondering how to manage this but I decided to take along a salad or plant based no fat dish, at first the host said I don't really need to get something. It was a little hard work but I felt I'd have something to eat but I realized that everyone loved the dish I had brought and we're excited to hear that it was low fat plant based vegan dish, now they expect me to always bring something different 😅
