She landed with forward momentum and threw her arms up quickly and took a step to hide the fact that she wouldn't have been able to hold the landing. Her heels didn't even touch the ground. According to the scoring code, in order for it to count as a stick, you have to show control and hold it. A great example of a truly stuck landing on a forward landing vault was Moceanu's second all around vault at the 1996 Olympics. Second, Maroney separated her legs in the flight up to the horse. Some judges took a third tenth off which was probably for landing slightly off center, but I think the deviation was so slight that it wasn't worthy of a deduction. Or it might have been for her slightly crossed feet while twisting, but again I don't think it would be enough to deduct. An appropriate score, based on the scoring code, would have been 9.8.

Maroney is no longer competing--great vaulter. But Simone has grown stronger since then, so has Andrade. Andrade vs Simone on vault will be quite the battle. In the future, there needs to be some form of measuring height & distance, since it is a sport. Simone is the greatest of these vaulters simply for the variety of vaults she can execute w/excellence. Andrade nor Maroney can execute the Biles 2. Vault is Simone's event.
