US: surpassed former number one industrialized nation UK around the turn of twentieth century. UK: was the inventor of very first industrialization and stayed number one for about 100-200 years. Others: were involved in wars or were building up industries, Nazi Germany during WWII, Soviet during Cold War ...

Costs in the West are high not because of the lack of domestic production but because of the high cost of labor. Average Western person is becoming too expensive for firms to keep their products at a so called 'consumer friendly price' which doens't mean a fair price. Firms (rather/have to) move to others countries with lower labor costs or hire only people who are willing to work for a low salary to keep their products at this 'consumers friendly price rate'. The US GDP is growing at an acceptable rate so there's no lack of production and productivity is mostly being compensated by the influx of immigrants who work for way less. The US can upkeep its primary and secondary sectors due to this high influx of low cost workers even though Western countries are focused on its tertairy sector as main sector. On the other hand higher developed European countries are struggling to upkeep its primary and secondary sectors due to the lack of low cost workers even though there are already a reasonable amount working in the 'higher developed countries' most of them coming from Poland, Ukrain, Spain, Morocco, Belarus, etc. since Europe isn't that large these people aren't always immigrants, but stay in said country to work and return home for short periods (this way firms can also avoid the social taxes). The more notable becoming problem with Western countries is that the average family is demanding more and more for way too less. We rather consume goods at a lower price who are produced in foreign countries and under bad working conditions then consuming our own domsetic products at the high but (depends) fair price. Our own greed is becoming our downfall but we're too blinded by 'oUr' wealth. The answer on your statement is, construction cost aren't high because of the lack of production but because construction materials have to be from high quality, high quality materials which are for a reasonable price only found in the domestic market. And specialised construction workers (plumber, electrician,...) are also acquired from the more expensive domsetic market. On the other hand regarding big firms who offer regular construction workers are most of the time low cost foreign workers.

Not only steel production, but production in general collapsed after the Romanian revolution in 1989. It never recovered. People say that communism was bad, but it had good parts. Just look. Romania was on the leaderboard, peaking at 12th place, then, in 1990, we just disappeared.
@noahshutts56555 жыл бұрын
Yeah but there was the whole, "genocide" thing under Ceaușescu that killed 50,000 people. Personally, the slaughtering of your own people sort of negates any benefit to steel production the communist system had.
@brandon_7185 жыл бұрын
This is unbelievably ignorant. You don’t measure the success of a nation by steal production. Don’t you think genocide due to communism might be bad? What about starvation? How about slavery? Jeez.

Most of peoples don’t know difference between iron ore and steel.Steel is not based on national resources of countries while iron ore is.For example Japan which don’t have any iron ore mines but they’re importing huge amounts of iron from other countries and producing steel from that irons in their factories.

Don't be shocked by China's steel demand too much. China has a huge population, so most people live in apartments with more than 20 floors, while most people in western countries are more keen to build houses with wood or low buildings with bricks.

You have to know, China is trying to catch up, they are behind USA for over 50 years, lots of steels goes to infrastructures, they are only half way done with infrastructure, and China is also open world market now, so it imports raw materials and exported for a cheaper price compared with other countries whom sell steel.
@Supsup85664 жыл бұрын
@fascist mexico where do u get the info about the quality? Hmm why the rest of the world buy from China until it owns 50% of the market share? The buyers must be building low quality products?
@Supsup85664 жыл бұрын
@fascist mexico do u cross triangulate info from multiple sources? If it is low quality, why other countries like US still buy from them? What's your thought?
@Supsup85664 жыл бұрын
fascist mexico There are many quality tiers. It could be true Chinese steel may not be of the highest tiers. However, it may not be true to claim that industry doesn't use their steel. Afterall, which industry uses and not use their steel? Maybe you can share the specific industry you have in mind. That will provide clarity. Thanks. Love to find out more.
