I moved away from Dena in the early 80s so I am too old to remember Doug Thomas but I am still glad to see the energy is even more HYPED with those guys than it was with us. Figuring out his vertical is easy if you know how high he can touch (presumably 13') and how high he can touch just standing (no jump). You just subtract the difference. 13 feet is 156 inches. According to the Draft Express website, the average standing (no jump) reach for a 6' 9" player, with shoes on, is 9' or 108 inches. 156 minus 108 is 48". This obviously assumes he actually touched 13 feet (I don't know how official the measurement was) and that he's 6' 9" with an average NBA players standing reach. 48" is incredible. There are very few people that can jump that high.

Only your highest touch is, but since that’s directly related to your reach (max touch - reach) the vertical measurement is the same all around, measuring how high you get off the ground. I'm pretty sure he's 6'9, he's played in the NBA. His highlight dunks are just average. I don't think he has the same coordination in air with a ball in hand. Either way, the back of a pro backboard is 13ft (156in) and he's 6'9ft (81in) so, do the math. Crazy vert.
