The bewildering contention among health industry professionals about the profiting side of medicine is largely taboo within the medical field. This is probably due to an archaic line of thinking that doesn't wish to equate a human life to dollars. This line of thinking prevents fields like podiatry from truly accelerating. --> Without payment, docs like us wouldn't be able to have a career. If you replaced that 6-figures salary with a mere 20-60k salary as an attending, I doubt this channel would even exist, not to mention the fact that 99% of pre-meds would change career paths. Yona asked a great question. Stephanie's line of thinking is elementary at best. If you pursue any field in any industry for the sole purpose of money, you'll be largely disappointed and unsatisfied. Docs like us deserve the best compensation for the years of academic study, surgical training, and expertise in our field. Unless Dr. Stephanie wishes to hold this field back, she ought to carefully reconsider carrying the impoverished mindset passed down from the suffered souls of old. I'd rather be my own boss and make my millions in private practice than have the hospital institution pocket millions on my work while uncle sam steals the other half of the cake.

It is definitely a question premeds ask on a consistent basis for good reason! We believe she was merely expressing the idea, as you said, that yes, of course we need to be properly compensated but that it shouldn't be the main driver of what we pursue. You both make good points!

I dont believe youre a Dr. You don't sound like a Dr...you sound like an imposter...You don't understand what she is saying. If you become a Dr you can earn a good living doing meaningful work. If your ambition is to make millions of dollars there are other professions that will enable you to earn as much and more than a Dr without the magnitude of sacrifice that is required to become a Dr. A CPA in private praftice commonly bills $250+ per hour....more money than a Dr and alot less sacrifice.....a CFO a CEO all of these professions and many more can generate more income than being a DR.....if your goal is to get rich you will accrue 250-500k to pay your way through med school....Dr's start their careers w high debt and don't really begin to make money until many years into practice....if you want bags of money 💰 look at other careers....if you're truly ready to sacrifice everything to devote yourself to a life of service then medicine may be right for you.❤✝️🕊🙏💯

in order to become a podiatric surgeon do you have to do specialization after your 3 years of residency?
@TheDPMJourney Жыл бұрын
Once you do 3 years of residency, you can officially do surgery. We have the option to do fellowships to help specialize further in a particular aspect of the field!

Amazing video. In my opinion ankle surgery and sports medicine is very lucrative. ATFL and AITFL repairs and arthroscopy of the Ankle and STJ. If you decrease exposure to the patients with uncontrolled co morbidities you can decrease the risk of complications and potential lawsuits. Of course get the imaging studies like X-rays,US, CT or MRI prior to surgery.

Can you be a podiatrist without surgery residency? If you have no manual dexterity, can you be a podiatrist?
@TheDPMJourney2 жыл бұрын
No, in the US, you would need the residency to practice! And yes, you learn majority of it in school and continue to in residency! We like to share that no one should let anything stop them if they like the hands-on aspect :)

If you get a diabetic foot ulcer patient, my sister used the antimicrobial shoe insole PodoPhylus. The ulcer dried and healed in 2 tob3 weeks.
