I remember when I was in college taking robotics 101, the class was watching a film about a prototype self-driving truck whose inventors had named it Higlander, and I kind of muttered "there can be only one!" and someone else sang "I am immortal / I have in me the blood of kings!" That was a great class.

If you basically liked it, 7.5/10 why do you call it Shitcase Cinema? Highlander is original, well written with an awesome soundtrack. I love it. Highlander 2 and the sequels deserve to be on the scrap heap of cinematic history. Remake - please God no! Why not simply 'update' the original -clean up the images, maybe fix a few special effects, but basically just rerelease it?

I seen this movie 4 times in my life, and I had no idea Sean Connery was playing a Spaniard until the last time I watched this movie.

That's because he was Northern. He had that Scouse accent. Though later in life it sounded like he was trying to transition to an American accent.

I enjoyed most of the Highlander tv series and most of the Highlander movies. This Highlander was good.

This is a classic for the cheesy quotes. I noticed one recently in an episode of 'Blacklist' , where Agent Ressler arrests this other agent (his mate) who's gone bad. "Don't move, pal... Don't even breathe." (Garfield says it to MacLeod when he arrests him in this) You should do Highlander II if you haven't already - Michael Ironside is a legend! Oh yeah - Freddie Mercury had an epic tache, and as far as I'm aware he was never a villain.

I have to say this is one of my favourite shit fims of all time. Actually, it's quite amusing, because while I would watch it for that strange sadistic mixture of good and shit, my mum used to take it really seriously, and every time that woman who marries McCloud ppears, she always turns to the nearest person around and announce that she was 'his true love, not that other slag who ditched him, she truly loves him.' It's a shame I can't film her reaction to this film and post it on KZbin...
