The entrance to Cittadella is actually free for everyone. The five euros is to gain access to the small museum of the Citadel. From the bastions of the city, you get great views of the whole island of Gozo, which is totally worth it. I'm from Malta myself, and it's great to see the perspectives of foreigners because we often take everything for granted here and complain about life. It truly is a beautiful country, and am proud to call it my homeland.

There's so many places you can go in Malta without having to spend a cent. You could visit the historic cities or check out some museums which are free of charge and Churches! There are hundreds of those to chose from all over Malta and Gozo. I hope you have/had an amazing time. Also, the area you called the Azure Window is actually called Dwejra! The natural window was just called the Azure Window (It-Tieqa tad-Dwejra in Maltese) I thought you might like to know. Dwejra actually means little house in Maltese.

Dived in the blue hole under the azure window. All the litter used to get trapped so it made for a disgusting entry and exit point but was a really nice dive. Went on a day trip to the blue lagoon. All the tourists were there with there swimming stuff and picnics and then there was half a dozen fully kitted up and dieing in the heat divers. Boat got to the lagoon and everyone got off and went to the beach and we all fell in for a dive. Sandy bottom and max depth 8m meant It was a boring dive but we never told the day trippers that when we all boarded for home.
@highlands2hammocks2 жыл бұрын
Sounds an incredible place to dive, minus the litter! We saw a few divers come and go this time round, would be interesting to see what it looks like now it has collapsed!

40 euros is A LOT!! yesterday in Bugibba I spent 3 euros on breakfast in Italian bar (cappuccino and a big croissant) , then less then 2 euros on 3 hot pastizzi for lunch , in the evening I had a chinese takeaway for 6,50 , but the portion was so HUGE that I ate half of it and I will have the rest for today’s dinner.. you can easily do with 10 euros just eating street food, and much less than 10 when you buy stuff in the supermarket and cook by yourself..
@highlands2hammocks2 жыл бұрын
The 40€ was also including our bike and accommodation so that stretched it a bit 😊

Holy crap I can't believe how affordable the hotel is! €26 per night for the two of you? Wow. And it looked nice too, not dirty or shady-looking or anything. When my wife and I go road tripping here in the US we rarely find a room for less than $75 (about €70) a night, unless it's ridiculously dirty and shady or like a scummy motel where we absolutely would not be comfortable staying, let alone parking our car overnight and trusting it to not be broken into.
@highlands2hammocks2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was a great bargain 😁 because it’s the off-season, I can imagine it will be more expensive in the summer!
@nicksavov95232 жыл бұрын
I recently traveled to Malta and I would say that €40 for a day is more than enough. We found some street food for €1 for pastizzi.. two and you are full. We found pizza on slice for just €3 and one slice is enough to get full. We rented a car €20 for a day.. it was €5 per person for my group.. the fuel was also €5 per person.. so Malta could be very cheep as well as very expensive.
