The spladle has been called a garbage move and is criticized as a lucky move but when I wrestled I routinely used it.somehow I always managed to end up on my stomach instead of parallel. I guess that's just how I learned it. I wish you didn't get injured as I think you had a good chance of taking it all the way.

@@BrandonBuckingham I didn't get to wrestle my senior year in high school because I tore up my knee during football season. I knew it was bad because it felt like somebody took a sledgehammer and heated up red hot and hit my knee with it. It was the worst pain I ever felt before or since. I always hate to see when people are doing well in something only to get sidetracked by something out of their control. I went back and watched it and it looked like a freak accident. Notice I hit it from top, from bottom, off my opponents shot, off of a shrug or any shuck by, and in any scramble position possible. I always whizzer hard, throw my front hip into my opponent, keep my outside leg up and keep my hips in great position to defend whether my opponent is looking to go out the back door, double over, run the pipe, finish off the mat, or whatever. I have a whole series I hit from the spladle position, every opponent i have ever wrestled has thought to "hit a double and just blow thru him" but it is not that easy. I have hit this move 10,000+ times over the past five years. Everyone thinks it is a trash move until they are out there on the mat with me and feel the constant threat looming in every position, do not underestimate the effectiveness of the spladle against any opponent at any level. -Brandon Buckingham
