HIGHLIGHTS | Arsenal v FC Barcelona (5-3) | Saka, Havertz, Trossard x2, Vieira

We twice came from behind to ensure a winning end to our summer US tour.
Inside the magnificent, sold out SoFi Stadium in LA, Barcelona took the lead early on through Robert Lewandowski, before Bukayo Saka drew us level. Saka then missed a penalty in an eventful first-half, before the Spaniards retook the lead through a deflected Raphinha free-kick.
Kai Havertz was in the right place at the far post to turn home Martin Odegaard’s header to level things up again before the break and we deservedly went ahead when Leandro Trossard arrowed home his shot from just inside the area. Trossard scored his second, finishing from Kieran Tierney's cross, before Ferran Torres briefly brought Barcelona back into it.
But Fabio Vieira ensured the scoreline had the gloss we deserved with a stunner late on.

I remember Robert Pires when he 1st came to Arsenal. He came to replace the outstanding Overmars and was shocking in his 1st season and everyone wanted him out, as he looked lost. He came alive the 2nd season and became one of our greatest ever players. Looking at you, Fabio Vieira 👀

The first 2 goals of Havertz for Arsenal is exactly what he came for, Arsenal plays with 5 forwards upfront in possession and Kai who is playing Xhaka’s position is also going in the box, it’s an upgrade from Xhaka on the attack as he is better in the attack than him, he is taller, a better finisher and knows exactly where to be. He may still have bad passes, but he’ll adapt.

Trossard is the only left AM who can turn 180 degrees frequently at Arsenal, whereas Havertz and Smith-Rowe aren't as gifted technically. Havertz is taller and Smith-Rowe is pacier, but Trossard has more experience and lower center of gravity

Man I think we shouldn't sell Tierney he is so good you can see in 2023 squad requires full backs like tomi and Kieran who can defend and can also make forward runs when required. Zini is more attacking and lacks defending and this squad already has attacking players in midfield like Kai, Rice and Martin. So why do we need a LB inverted to a CM or LM.

Since arsene advised saka to use his right foot more it seems saka keeps driving to the goal line and crissing with his right and shooting with his right. Last season i felt he kept trying to cut inside a bit too much and defenses would set up to stop it as much as they could. If he adds this to his game and becomes more unpredictable he will be the best there is

The good news about the goals we conceded is that you can correct that in coaching. Gabriel stops scanning for Lewi for the first goal. Keep scanning. Ødegaard turns away from the free kick. Never do that. The third goal... you know... It'll be fine. Really looking forward to the champions league this season. We're going to the last eight at least.

Since 2008, as a child, when I started following Premier League, I supported Arsenal from the first. Saw the likes of Van Persie, Fabregas, Nasri, Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez to name a few. I always felt something missing in this team. We had such great teams but every time it fell apart. There were so many changes in this last 15 years. We always closed on position 4 in Premier league and got so many backslashes. Arsene Wenger was changed. New managers came and couldn't give a proper vision to the team. With every new signings, we were feeling confident but the result remained the same. We didn't need a star player. We needed a perfect player to fill in a game style. Mikel Arteta, a brilliant strategist, pulled up his socks and last season, I was really happy to see Arsenal at the top for most of the season till we missed it. This was due to lack of depth in our squad. Big teams can win trophies only with great depth. Take Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United at its helm, Chelsea, Manchester City and other big teams who have won titles. We lacked proper depth. A substitute for a player is not enough. A substitute for multiple positions is needed. Big players can do that and sometimes, practice. Mikel Arteta had transformed this team. In a squad, some will be benched. Others will play. But when they will play as a substitute, they will make an impact. This is needed from a player. Ego clashes should not be an issue. There will injuries, comeback, good games, bad phase. But in this between, everyone will have to play together as a team. Just follow the process. We will succeed. ❤
