That's an inherent factor of soccer. Crowd participation is almost a necessity for the teams as they play two halfs of 45 minutes each. So the more they are encouraged by their fans, the more motivated they get. There's also the usually long build up towards a goal and the insane relief it provides, as it's a sport where patience is greatly rewarded and a score is harder to get. I'm glad to see the US waking up to it though. There are some really great ultras and tifos in the country.

I really really want to watch more MLS games but in my opinion this 2 of 3 game system is absurd, why do we push to make everything about the USA sports playoffs system???? The rest of the world dropped the 2 of 3 games system five decades ago. No to mention the significant toll on players. Come on, play two games and add up all goals, scoring in soccer is difficult enough to be discredited by counting a 1-0 win the same as a 6-0 win.

Brad Guzan came from Premiere League primarily playing for Aston Villa. The keeper from Columbus Crew is new straight from college. I'm guessing to take starting role on the roster he's been pretty solid for the team but I don't know.

It's absolutely true that we need grass. It is a stadium where you can open or close the entire roof but of course we'd have to leave the roof open several days in advanced for the grass. Otherwise, we'd have to import it in.

There are a few teams with almost European football club style defending and Columbus is normally pretty good there but they panicked when they went down a goal and it got worse from there for their defending.

@@Deeznutz29828 It's getting better. You need some homegrown heroes and the players need to move up a level in decisiveness, power and control. Football should be ruthless and clinical. Sometimes this looks like schoolboy play, weak tapping of the ball, telegraphed soft strikes at the goalie. Aim for the edges of the goal! Basic stuff.

@RDRevolver8282 the requirement that all MLS teams have a true training facility means we'll see an uptick in quality over the next several years. That requirement was just added in the last 10 years so it will take time for it to be dramatically noticeable. It's the reason the 30th team isn't online yet. San Diego FC already have a brand new soccer-specific stadium but they're building a $150 mil training facility for the team.
