There is no way he could be offsides, that goes against the laws of offsides to make that call. But he the point is, you do not see the revs fans running around crying about the refs being "anti mls" in these games. It is always the Liga MX fans and ONLY when they lose. The fact of the matter is, the refs have been a complete joke in the MLS vs MLS games as well. It has nothing to do with one league vs another league, these refs are just abysmal period!

That may be it, the match that had everything. A terrible start and pretty lackluster performance overall turns into one of the most resilient nights in club history. Earl Edwards, take a bow. Hasn’t played since exiting the Open Cup and puts in an absolute blinder. Saves a 1 on 1 to keep us in the game along with numerous other stops. Compared to that pathetic excuse of a professional who shall not be named, our boy EEJ showed up and showed out. Capi with one of his best games as a Rev. Maybe not on paper, but from the 10th minute on it was Carles against the world. Exceptional skill coupled with nasty challenges ultimately ended his night early. For what was a disgracefully dirty Atlas side. Mocking the official (who was incredibly poor both ways) and getting the fans going the whole night. You just love to see it. Was also the first man to run up to the fort, injured, and was absolutely ecstatic. Give him whatever he wants. Whatever he wants to extend the contract. Greatest player in our history, period. El Capitan does it again!!! Dave and DJ were both great. Kept us in the game multiple times. Hopefully BB’s injury isn’t too bad. MAK and Polster showed some growing pains playing together. Just unorganized, similar to the Latif trial. MAK looks much better as a solo 6. Not sure what will come of those two being on the pitch together. Noel had a bit of a tough night as well. Was allowed to drift a lot and didn’t really seem to work. The midfield just needs more time overall. A lot of thought will be required to find a solution at the center of the park. As for the attackers, we made it through. Giacs was very good all around to be fair. The biggest moment was of course winning the penalty. Which Gus then turned in for his brace on the rebound. La Pantera with two huge goals, but not his best day from open play. The subs seemed a bit odd at first but made more sense as time went on. What can I say, Richie Williams masterclass?! I think so!!! Then came the pens. Based on our previous records it was not something to look forward to. Everyone does their job until the final man walks up. Club legend Andrew Farrell after what was a pretty down day to his standards and a rough week to this point, SMASHES the penalty to put us through. It’s just what that man does. Never lets the game get to him and comes through in the biggest moment of our season thus far. The 1,000 competitive match in club history couldn’t end much better than that. Let the celebrations ride as this is one of the best days in our entirety. With everything going on, we pulled through. No outside matters or on field foes could hold these guys back. Full focus on Queretaro. Back home again and Richie’s resilient men are starving for more!!!! GO REVS!!!!!!!!

You can stop or stutter step and time during your run up to the ball, but not as the last thing you do before you kick, which the NE player did. he did not take any more steps after the stop he shot it, which you cannot do. You can stop anytime during the run up, but just not the last thing you do before you kick

@@Rubymx20I’d recommend you watch the pen again, Virioni pauses one step away from the ball, then plants his foot at the ball, meaning he hadn’t completed his run up when he paused. Due to this his penalty was perfectly legal.

His run up was done, which is the key part once the run up is done you cannot stutter . I rewatched it and it was closer then i have thought but still a lateral move not a forward move . I watched it a bunch of times in slow motion and different angles. The Revs player flopped. He could have stayed on his feet. He should have been given a yellow for simulation. I'm happy the Revs won but if it was the other way around I would feel the same way.

The fact that the Santa Maria committed TWO fouls worthy of a direct free kick / penalty in the box on that play alone meant that the Ref had literally no choice but to call it. It was 100% a penalty. And in case you do not understand what simulation is I will educate you on that. Simulation is when there is ZERO contact at all, when the opposing player NEVER touches you in any way shape or form and you THROW yourself to the ground in an attempt to draw a foul and or penalty. That is most clearly not the case here as Santa Maria was all over Vrioni both with his hands and his feet. So no, there is absolutely no chance in hell that Vrioni would ever receive a yellow for simulation because that was most certainly not what happened. Santa Maria on the other hand was LUCKY not to have received his second yellow at that point in time (and now with 2 second left in stoppage time instead for running his mouth to the ref).

one thing is to disagree with the refs interpretation of the play, another thing is to say he made a bad call on purpose. I think one can understand how the ref came to that decision -- it's not just a play where the defender puts his hands on the attacker to slow him down, or is physical. I think that the defender at first legit tugs him and does kinda drag him down. At 4:15 is where the tug starts, and it ends at your timestamp.

The stadium is built for an NFL team and is about 40 minutes away from the biggest city in the region, Boston. Good team with terrible fan experience. Also the Revs don't have a star that attracts fans. Boston sports fans are used to having top tier athletes. While Bou and Gil are fantastic players, they are not players that would attract casual football fans to the games.
