Old-timer Irish supporter here: New Zealand's backs had scant reposte to Abbi Dowd & Co in this match . Her sheer pace, prey-drive and class denote a true "thorough-bred". And Abbi is but one such "thorough-bred" in a lithe England backline that is oozing class: and it is still evolving. This rapier-like attacking speed, skill and accuracy is only as good as the forwards provide though, and they are all of "high-pedigree", too. Very well done indeed to the English ladies. Great craic 🏴‍☠😎☘.

Irish fan here - we're just seeing some green shoots after a few very tough years for our ladies. NZ are clearly full of talent but maybe adapting to a new system, the attack is firing but defensive set up reminds me of the early days of Farrell with the Irish men's team, just needs time to click. The English are just impeccable, interested to see if Canada can handle them.

You can tell that NZ is playing a lot of new faces. The defence was pretty bad, unusual in a Black Fern squad. Couldn’t recognize the overlap as it was developing. Tackling was weak. But England has a strong team and played well, with a bit of luck that always helps. This has been an interesting tournament that would have benefitted from professional promotion. World Rugby is not doing the women’s game any favours with empty venues.

Next year’s WCup will get plenty of promotion, BBC and ITV tele in England will be all over it. If England are in the Final - I’d be amazed if they weren’t - then Twickenham will probably sell out, especially if they’re playing our NZ Black Ferns. Let’s hope it’s played at the right time of the day - afternoon kick off ! - and not these ridiculous night matches so the Union can squeeze more dosh out of tv media wanting to sell more Ads to Southern Hemisphere morning audience. 2pm kick off means, on most days, even in damp ol’ England, a dry pitch and a dry ball: perfect conditions for running rugby played out wide.

As a BF supporter, we were well beaten but we’ll be back. Well played, England Roses. Outstanding outside Backs, Back Three. Several Tries scored out wide. BF’s defence more holes than Swiss cheese. It’s not often you see Ruby Tui slip off a tackle. I remember England players reaction at the end of the WC Final at Eden Park, they knew they were the better team and NZ had nicked it at a line out error on 79 minutes. They’re making hay nowadays, sweet revenge. NZ will get better but the awkward truth currently, from our point of view, is England are just too good, by far the better team. C’mon the Black Ferns! Sort our Defence out.
@richwalker1965

Classy post - thanks. Looking at the BF defence it looks entirely fixable - all teams will struggle to contain the England back three and getting parity in the forwards will be tough but the defensive alignment can be sorted. The BFs consistently got caught too narrow, without their shoulders square and weren't in position to cover across. All that's eminently coachable given work.

Let that be a lesson to Allen Bunting Mike Delany for leaving there Black Ferns in cotton wool before they left New Zealznd and not forcing them to play in the FPC comp. We looked short of a trot in Twickenham, against Ireland and against England again in Canada . The Black Ferns were soft and when you watch our defence and our players defensive technique , Holmes , Vahakolo and Tui missed easy one on on tackles which lead to 21 easy points being put on the board , let alone the 7 with the charge down try . We have been poor and have plenty of bloody work to do heading into the next World Cup . ENGLAND THE YARDSTICK BY WHICH ALL TEAMS MSASURE THEMSELVES , TO MUCH GAME FOR THE BLACK FERNS TO HANDLE .

Former Black Fern Krysten Cottrell was the best fly half in Aupiki....why didn't she make the squad? If you're going to blood a brand new halfback, do it with an experienced fly half, and vice versa. All the time spent developing Ariana Bayler and then she's dropped, so you now have two newbie half backs.... At least start Iritana Hohaia. Renee Holmes has been out of form since returning from injury. Last week she gave away 6 penalties from getting isolated and holding on to the ball. If players aren't in form, drop them amd have them play their way back into the starting lineup. Patricia Maliepo has all the attributes and game management ability but hasn't played a game on tour....she can play fullback. Give her a go...at least she can hoof the ball down field.

They got the right formulae of the inside and outside halves, and the loose trio in their first win against Australia following their disappointment loss to Canada!!! That was the winning and functional unit, and one could see it clearly when the inside half was subbed late in the game, and unit performance dramatically turned dysfunctional somewhat!!! WHO IS THE DROOLING CANTERBURY GUY MANAGING THE BACKS????? The potential of the whole unit is gone completely flat from the poor visions Bunting and his cohort of excuse-ladened buddies are displaying on here!!! NOT SURPRISING AT ALL THE OUTCOMES!!!

@@kevd2448 The combo between King and Brunt as the inside midfielder was almost perfect - as long as the ball reaches King at a pace that would allow reasonable time for her to make proper decision! The No. 9 they chose failed her, and the pressure was not good!!! Ruahei, should be pushed out to the outside midfielder I reckon! She could do more damage there with her distribution! Ruahei SELDOM passes the ball to Brunt - I don't know why, but she has that issue that needs to be addressed!!! Even during Aupiki Ruahei seems to have that problem! Unlike King, she would make sure her midfielder is being fed, and the loosie trio close to her heels!!! King is fine. Their choice No.9 needs more exposure - outside of the BF!!!

Coaching change is urgent and suspect one or two players would not be in the team if picked after the most recent Farah Palmer domestic rugby series. Hard to know even where to start. Unfortunately the game has swung to a forward based domination and the endless rolling maul tries are a blight on the game. Saying that the Black Ferns were outplayed everywhere despite having good lead up games but seem to have learnt very little. The players are there but the current coaching is not and maybe a rugby academy for women players. England and Canada and France and even Ireland look tight and professional, the Black Ferns have slipped away badly.

England were simply too good and are a complete team. NZ have really fallen off the slippery slope. I lost count of how many tackles we fell off and simply missed. Congrats to England and NZ please play your best players in the positions they are supposed to be in and stop using new players to gain experience because this is exactly what happens. @@naraboy99There's a developmental lack in kicking as it doesn't seem to be a priority in Farah Palmer cup and Aupiki. Canada were quick, and with their physicality as well, but the kicking game was new for me,” Brunt reflected.
