Sure, they lost the game 24 to 41 but they fought those red bastards hard on the field. Most of the time, they were only trailing behind by 10 points.

It became all too apparent when they were moving slower on the field against Austin Westlake. Their offensive game was clearly lacking as well.

@@lpiggy740 No offense, but Katy couldn’t even beat Tompkins last year. If Katy were still up in D1 last year as well as this year, they wouldn’t even made it past North Shore in Region lll. And those boys gave Westlake the toughest and most physically battle in the Cade Klubnik-era and actually had a lead against them, which is rare. (score ended up being 24-21).

They got destroyed by Lake Travis the same year and only scoring 10 points both games combined. It’s only recent Westlake has been this dominating after years of getting trashed by Lake Travis. Lake Travis would’ve destroyed Cen10 in 2016 season.

Bro if I went to a better hs I'd be on TV rn. I was in the class of 08 with Julio jones and aj green. I love seeing these bigger schools play man..it's like watching lil college teams. I want to help out players from smaller schools one day. Been talking about this at work. Me and my Qb in Hs was on max preps but they didnt even report our stats. Shit like that just kills some players chance at getting recognition. Anyone that wants to help with building a program for small schools only hit my inbox. Everyone deserves the same chance. I get the higher comp with bigger schools but I've met plenty of small school guys that could be pro right now.

Their coaching is top notch, players are just too good , they play in the Trinity league (which is the best league in high school football) , And they have played 6 teams in the Top 25 meanwhile Westlake has only played 1 which is Katy.

@@imbsmit There is no excuse. They are a smaller enrollment school. They don't decide that. Idiotic comment. Plus, Lake Travis made the Division 1 semifinal and are in Westlake's district. Westlake beat them 63-21 in the regular season. If anything, being a Division 2 public school with a sub-3,000 enrollment makes this season even more special. If you are #1 in Texas and #2 in the nation as a public school going up against schools that literally are twice your size (Allen is the biggest in TX, over 6,000 kids), you are elite. And you said earlier in a different thread they played no one in the Top 25 at all.

Nobody? Did you forget that NS struggled against Tompkins who Katy destroyed in regular season? Not to mention, CE king and Summer creek came from the district were Atascocita and NS belong in. Houston alone has a lot of great teams. But I agree, they should drop from the rankings, but at least let SLC stay, they did pretty great all year long with a new QB. Katy didn’t look great the last two game at all, they were severely lacking and Westlake just demolish them.

Yeah Katy usually play no one but the woodlands usually is the team they tend to struggle against year in and out kinda like their Kryptonite, and Dickinson is pretty good too but severely lacks defense on big stages. So I wouldn’t say there are no one. It was going to be a blowout D1 cause one region 4 comp(lake Travis) is weak and two Duncanville improved a lot from the lost from MD. I knew from the start that LT was going to get destroyed, but I wasn’t sure about SLC and Dville. D2, Westlake is the heavy favorite to win it all. The only other team that good on that bracket was Katy and Guyer, but even then, Westlake is a whole another level. You gotta give props to Tomball, they were number 4 in their district and made state semi- finals. This what we mean by volatile. Katy lost their momentum from the last two playoffs game they played (both schools came from NS district play), so I suspect that Westlake was going to win and I was right.

It’s an enrollment thing, not their decision to go to D2. They were D1 last year and won.

Whether you're D1 or D2 has to do with the enrollment of the 4 teams from the district that make the playoffs. Lake Travis will always go D1 because they're at around 3400 enrollment. Westlake is in the 2800 range. It usually hinges on what Austin Bowie does. They are just slightly higher enrollment than Westlake. Last year Bowie missed the playoffs thus knocking Westlake to D1. This year Bowie made it.

Schools have absolutely no control what division they're in. The only reason team's are d2 is because another school within the same district made the playoffs have more students enrolled in "said" school. So teams like Katy will almost always be D2, because they're a somewhat small 6A School.
