Remember grass doesn’t re grow when nobody is in the chunk. A chunk can look like recent activity but in actuality it could easily be years since a person was last there.

Minecraft is one of those games that makes you rethink that question.. “if a tree falls in the woods & no one is around to hear it.. does it make a sound?” Seeing how the grass hasn’t grown in 2 years because a player wasn’t close enough to that area for it to do so… I guess we know it wouldn’t 🤣

This is why I would make a massive lava cast, so inside of it I could just build a small base. Massive lava cast means it’s hard to fully grief all of it, also it’s hard to detect if there’s a base inside unless you have specific hacks, and a small base means there’s less importance to blowing it up rather than a full on builder base with a full on dedicated team to it. Also, I think lava casts can look pretty neat if done right. I’ve made an Eye of Sauron build, like a full-on tower to the build limit, just by mostly using lava casting.
