Does it have a built in walking foot? So far, what I’ve seen in this video is very impressive! Love the large throat space too. I’m afraid to ask how much it costs….

The walking foot(feet) is attached as needed. The M8 has multiple sizes of walking feet in it's AcuFeed system to allow the user to pick the correct foot for whatever project on which you are working. There are wide AcuFeed feet and narrow AcuFeed feet to use with one of three needle plates that come standard with the M8. Janome has special pricing for the holidays as well as financing options. Hi if I outgrow the ASR or don’t want to use it for a certain reason could I just FMQ without it?

Absolutely! You still get the standard FMQ feet for you to use when simply dropping your feed dogs. However, I thing that once you try the ASR you will be hooked. It is very smooth and user friendly.

hi there ,how bout the tension..how does it work..I have a Horizon Janome.never have to ever touch the tension..ty

Basically, you can think about thread tension like a tug of war that should always end in a tie. When your thread has the correct tension your top thread and your bobbin thread should always meet in the middle of your fabric. If your bobbin thread is visible on the top of your fabric then the top thread is winning the tug-o-war because it is pulling the bottom thread up through the fabric past the point where they should meet in the middle. The top thread is pulling too hard so you want to lower the thread tension on top. If the top thread is showing on the bottom of the fabric then the top thread is not pulling hard enough and is allowing the bobbin thread to pull it to the bottom. Turn up the upper thread tension so it pulls harder. You want to keep those threads in a constant pull against each other. Now how the tension plates work in the machine is a video that perhaps we should make. Thank you for the suggestion.

What’s the difference between this and the M7?

It is basically all the wonderful features from the M7 plus Accurate Stitch Regulator for free motion quilting (four free motion quilting feet including one for using long arm rulers!), a new presser foot floating mode, and a needle moving wheel next to the needle. Its the natural evolution of an already amazing machine.
