Richard Wrigglesworth, the Leicester Coach, rather than looking to his own team's failures (and he need only ask about the absence of Leicester tacklers for some of Leinster tries) mentioned Leinster's "Financial Resources" as the reason for the beating his team suffered last night.. One could point out to Mr Wrigglesworth that the vast majority of this Leinster squad are Leinster born, Leinster educated and signed professional with Leinster. Meanwhile, both under the former Coach (Steve Borthwick) and continuing under Wrigglesworth, Leicester have and continue to spend many millions buying in "talent". As an example, one need only compare the wages of, for instance, the two out halves featured last night. Leicester had South African World Cup winner Handre Pollard, while Leinster had Academy graduate, Ross Byrne. I don't know what either player earns, but while both had 100% kicking records last night, I very much doubt that Ross Byrne's wages for last night came anywhere close to the wages Mr Pollard took out of Leicester. Developing Home Grown talent is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying it in and If Mr Wrigglesworth wants to emulate Leinster's success, he might want to feature far more Home Grown Leicester talent (if there is any). Of course, developing such talent, academies, outreaches to schools, clubs, etc involves long-term (often generations long) investment (and doesn't breach Salary caps) and Leicester's current "Sugar Daddy" is far more interested in immediate results....
@joshcarvell89

As a Leicester fan, I do agree with you, but there are a lot of minor inaccuracies in what you've said. A) We do look to create talent ourselves (Freddie Steward and George Martin for example), but you are right in saying that we do need to develop our players more, B) We're a PLC ran by the finances we develop through ticket sales etc... and have only raised £13m via subscription sales recently to ensure competitiveness and C) Wigglesworth is only a temporary appointment with the successor set to be Dan McKellar, former head coach of the Brumbies so hopefully we'll be back to something resembling Borthwick's Tigers next year, if not a whole new Tigers outfit that looks to play progressive offloading Rugby (what is more likely in my opinion).

Judging on current form Leinster and Toulouse should be the final really granted we are yet to see current holder La Rochelle but these two are on a different pace and skills levels than either Stormers, Exeter and Leicester. I found the Sharks to be the most convincing of the losing sides, at least they showed pace and skills against Toulouse. Leicester is a mystery to me, they are nowhere near lifting the European Cup again and although I found Gloucester and Exeter to be far superior in recent weeks, the Tigers are the current Premiership holder, it is hard to believe. They seem to be in the same slump as Clermont only I know Clermont won't be in that slump for very long. They will be new exciting players coming in. But Leicester has been in that European slump for so long... is it going to ever end? England plays club rugby like France, it is not an advantageous franchise system, for this reason the English MUST bring promotion and relegation to the fore. With the loss of Wasps and Worcester, they have to bring light to their second division the way the Top 14 brings light to the ProD2 and even lower leagues. A real league is do or die whether you play at the top to qualify for the play-off or at the bottom to avoid relegation, it must be competitive all way through and for the second division, it gives players an incentive to better themselves. Why would hopeful players from the English second division (that we never hear about) even believe in the possibility of making it to the Premiership? Not mentioning it is utterly unfair and unsportsman-like to maintain clubs in the top league when they are not winning games. Relegation is the sign of a healthy, fair and competitive league. I have said it before but when you take a look at the ProD2, you have some serious clients there, lots of Historical French clubs that once were at the helm of the first division of French rugby. Hell, even the 3rd and 4th Division of Nationale are worthy clubs that develop exciting new players. If there was no path to go up, then the Top 14 clubs would never be able to bring new players to the fore at the current rate and with as much consistency. Give your lower divisions and clubs a chance, give your young players a chance. To me the Premiership is doing it all wrong, it is an aristocracy of rugby meaning the place of these clubs in the hierarchy is guaranteed not by sport on the field, not by results but by rule off the field. There is nothing worst in sport. It is anti-sport. Where La Rochelle, Toulon and Brive would be in English rugby? They would have never been allowed to climb the ladder of success and win their European titles. Napoleon was the first ruler to push forward elevation by merit over the traditional and monarchic elevation by blood lineage, I think it is time the Premiership separates itself from this self-serving aristocratic mentality. You have to allow David to meet Goliath. You have to allow the best to come to the fore and win trophies. It is clearly not happening with the current crop, they are too safe for their own good quite clearly. Bring on the relegation.

What the Leicester coach said was completely accurate. The Leinster side are massively benefiting from the Irish structure, which includes the financial compensation that has no restrictions. @@washerdryer3466 your naive comment demonstrates that you fail to understand the bigger picture.
