Agreed, I'm pleasantly surprised, general speaking not yet acting/fake fauls, referees so far more than ok. I would say the level of football (soccer as it's called) is higher than a good second top division English, Spanish, Italian etc.

Stuver had a great game! Seen so many pens that aren't pens in the MLS. Vela was going down before the keeper made contact, that ain't a penalty, the second one was a better shout! VAR are even worse in the MLS than they are in the Premier League! 🤦‍♂

Such a trash penalty call when the player is already falling. Look at the guys legs, look at his feet and he is falling before the goalie is even near him. Excellent karma for them to not get the second penalty (I think the second is a more valid shout than the first IMO), LAFC would have gotten points they don’t deserve

the goalkeeper got it wrong I dont think he fouled the other player intentionally he timed it late and hit the player and not the ball. A career decision that will haunt him for years to come. The opposition player did not dive.

First penalty contact was made on the heal of vela by the goalies knee, second palacios was literally kicked in the back of his foot. All clear penalties and if you think otherwise you’re as brain dead as the referee

Watch 5:55 a few times. Then watch it again. The player is already going down and is dragging their foot. That is 'basically a dive'. It's not even drawing a foul. It's manufacturing a foul.

*LAFC couldn't get those goals in so they dived hoping to get the penalties. The first one worked even though it's obvious Vela dragged his foot but the second was definitely not a penalty. Nice job Austin! That keeper is something else!*

Yeah I'd have to agree. Vela picked his feet up way before Stuver touched him, ref would've called it back if they did VAR. On the second, I'd say Kipp got a touch with his left foot and at that point it became kipp's ball, so the LAFC player put his foot in the way and fouled kipp if anything...

@@perrondenais684 I rewatched it several times. I can almost see why you think he got there first if your mind wanted that to be the case. But it's clear as day to me that he got there a half second late. The ball was pulled to the side with a top of the ball touch by the LAFC player. Aside from being able to see who touched it, the ball would have also had a different trajectory if the defender got there first at that speed. At the end of the day it's probably better they didn't give the penalty because the first penalty looked like Vela flopped a bit and for both goals to be a penalty would kind of ruin the game. At the end of the day I don't really care, I just found it a little ridiculous you were suggesting that it should actually be considered a foul on the attacking player haha

@@danielbailey9049 Okay i've rewatched it four days later, and I can confirm: i was blinded by the verde... Keller did not touch the ball. Also yeah I'm insane for thinking that could be a foul on the attacking player. I will say, independent of the Vela incident, I can still understand a no-call here, as it feels like the LAFC player had lost the ball and begun to fall away from the ball. In real-time, I'm not sure Keller's contact made a difference in the outcome of that moment. I'm still biased, but even being wrong, LAFC only deserved one penalty from that game given the Vela flop.

im not a fan of either team but that seemed obvious in real time and in the replay. attackers planting foot got wiped out from underneath him and the defender didnt win the ball. pretty shocking honestly

The player loses his balance and falls as Keller approaches the ball, he doesn’t prevent a potential clear chance at goal as he doesn’t tackle the player but rather gets tangled with the player giving the impression of a penalty but of course is not.

If you're gonna do a drag turn, you kinda need to take the ball with you, otherwise you are just throwing youself to the ground. Also, Vela dived for the fitst one, very Vardy. Going over before contact, which he made sure of as keeper retracted arms.
