If you listen to the first episode of Patrice's Black Phillip Show you can see Opie's skills in radio. People complain and whine that he's not as funny, he has a role though. His role is basically to organize and keep the flow of the show going and at that he truly is a master. People say he surrounds himself by funny people. The truth is that's what he SHOULD do because he is a master at keeping those funny people in a place where they can be funny, and by place I don't mean a room. I'm talkin about flow man. Give Opie some props.

I do think he gave it a shot though like he stated and that’s what counts. People seem to forget the incident where Ant texted Opie by mistake, thinking it was Jimmy, calling Opie a cunt. And that’s just the one incident we were all told. That kind of thing is pretty telling that Ant was doing other shit along those lines as well. When I look back on the O&A show's saved snippets on KZbin, the funniest shit I hear was when Patrice was in studio. Anthony was funny too, but there was no real balance when he started talking race. Patrice perfectly blended insight on race, sexuality, etc. I've listened for a long, long time and this is the conclusion I've reached. The show started a sharp decline when Patrice died. It hit the absolute SHITTER when Anthony was fired. Now it's justboring.

bigtruckseriesreview its easy to say that when top clips on youtube of O&A are with Patrice. if you try to listen to O&A more you will discover a lot more than just Patrice. i listened to the show live and for me sharp decline started around 2009. it was different show, energy was gone. maybe because of their contracts or whatever. but decline had nothing to do with Patrice. one thing right about Patrice is that he became big part of the show in 2011 and was brought in almost daily. Norton was away very often, so Patrice almost replaced him. and in 2011 O&A was unlistenable.. it was year of serious things like Japan's tsunami, Libya conflict, Bin Laden's death and Anthony all of a sudden became into all-round expert talking only about those things day-in-day-out. Opie had given up already. so when Patrice was on the show had at least some kind of pace and comedy. so if we speak about decline, they declined quite naturally with age. but if we would write it down to someone, i rather write it down to Norton's behind-the-show success than Patrice's death.

They had to rely on trying to get laughs, for example, from the likes of Lady Di, among others. Daily complaints from Opie have been going on for years. But of late they've been very trying. We get it Opie! You're not happy making millions talking for four hours a day. Losing Ant will be the kiss of death for this show. Ant was the funny, witty guy and the only reason I tuned in.
