It's less interesting live. I saw them at Twickenham the other year, after the French game. I stopped watching at halftime and went to meet my friends in the pub. At the time, I was coaching the under 16s in a provincial town in southwest France. They were better than my Cadets, but almost exactly the same standard as the Juniors - under 17s in a small town in France. it looks more interesting on television.

@@michaelbaker7499 If a Welsh player collapsed a maul for a penalty try or prevented a probable try scoring pass for a penalty try (tackle off the ball, deliberate knock on etc...) then that player gets yellow. The only time a yellow card would be dished out in that scenario with no clear offender is if Wales were already on a team or scrum yellow card warning for repeated infringement, in that case whichever front row player stood up or went down first would probably go.

Because women's rugby is fairly new at this level, it will take 5-10 for these teams to even out in performance, hence why you typically have these screwed results where one team does very well and the other team doesn't. Of course this happens in men's rugby but not as often between popular rugby supporting nations such as Wales. Now I don't know if women's rugby has a 6 nations but heck the women's England team will have it easy because at least the women's Welsh team are so bad. Dome tuning and further support needs to take place and that may be another decade away yet.

@SandSMat2 жыл бұрын
True, she had a poor start but so did Helena Rowland in the last match and Zoe is a good player. She may not be my first choice at 10 but Simon Middleton has invested a lot in her and I believe that at this late stage it would be foolish to drop her.

She's had some great games for the Red Roses, she just had an off day. Harrison and Rowland play well together as well.
@johnx97742 жыл бұрын
Yeah she wasn't great but it doesn't help when a prop decides to stand directly in front of you when you are attempting to kick the ball out, particularly gormless. Maybe it knocked her confidence because she was fabulous against the NZ last year.
@MARTINA-gc3tq2 жыл бұрын
@@johnx9774 The forward was blocking the opposition runners as is normal. Harrison as usual kick low and slow. Why try to defend her poor kicking abilities. There are far better kickers in the squad. In the World Cup the clever teams are going to target her slack slow play.
@paulm24672 жыл бұрын
England lost the last World Cup because their back up players weren’t integrated into the first choice fifteen and they couldn’t replace key players. They are clearly using as many options as possible and playing players in their second or even third choice position, we’ve seen most of the wingers, Rowland and Harrison play full back, interchangeable fly halves and centres, scrum halves on the wing, back rows in the second row etc. This is probably part of the same policy of covering all the options.

Back in the eighties and nineties, Wigan won the rugby league challenge cup 8 years on the trot. You can see their name in the record books, there's no asterisk next to their name and no footnote telling you that for most of that period they were the only full time professional team in the league. Other teams were all paid, but virtually all the players were part time, with other jobs. They trained 2 nights a week whilst Wigan trained 5 days a week. No one complained at the time, never heard anyone mention it since. By the end of that run, all the teams had gone full time. Someone has to go 1st, someone has to lead. Wales, Scotland, Italy, France, Ireland and New Zealand now all have their teams on central contracts. Others will follow.
