An interesting match - error strewn and the first half won by the elements, but a good result from this Red Roses supporter. If they're not careful though, with the worrying red cards, England will end up playing rugby league. Twickenham next week with the granddaughters and looking forward to a great contest.
@ianarnett9 ай бұрын
I’m a great Red Roses supporter and have been to watch them live. However, I worry about three areas which have been a matter for consideration in every one of their three matches so far. I’ll acknowledge that conditions were difficult yesterday, but these things didn’t appear then. The goal kicking is poor, very often the goal posts are not even troubled and that must be improved. At least the kicks should be near. Passing the ball is much too often to the head, when I learnt rugby as a schoolboy I was taught it went to “the breadbasket “. England’s passing to the head, not only, makes a knock on more likely, but also, tends to disrupt the flow and speed of the attack. Lastly the discipline must improve. Whether the cards are right or wrong they are putting themselves in the situation themselves. I was particularly concerned that Marlie Packer was reckless when she came on. As the captain, and having had a card herself in the last match, and down to fourteen players, restraint should have been exhibited. Having had a moan I must congratulate England on their new attacking style, and I understand that they are still developing this. A good performance.
@michaelvidal19719 ай бұрын
I agree with you on the discipline and the kicking both need working on. If I have counted right those two areas cost England 20 points in a close game that could cosyt the game. Also how on earth did Scotland fail to capitalise on having the extra woman.

@@thomasmain5986 I was surprised, but quite happy, that they beat Wales; after the Italy game I was fearing that Ireland would not win a game in the tournament. The question is whether England can click again in Bordeaux. France have shown flashes of what one expects from France, but I think they rebuilding their team this year.

There is no argument about Cockayne's second yellow card, but the TMO made a huge mistake on the first one. Cockayne was NOT responsible for the player going above the horizontal, it was the fault of her team mate, on the other side, lifting the player by the leg, and it was _them_ that should have had the yellow. You could even argue that _neither_ player was responsible, as it was a combination of efforts. Had either player made their tackle individually, there would have been no penalty. If the other player had (correctly) served the first yellow, and with Cockayne's bunker review returned as a Yellow only, she would then have been allowed back on the field.
@JaemanEdwards9 ай бұрын
No mistake made. Get your eyes tested.
@DarkMoonWayfarer9 ай бұрын
So you're saying neither player was responsible...like the wind just blew her upside down or something? Sounds reasonable...
@neill3929 ай бұрын
Having lifted her above the horizontal, which is a penalty, Rosie Galligan held her there and safely lowered her to the ground, under control. It shouldn't have been a yellow card to either player. I suspect England will appeal the 1st card.
@thomasmain59869 ай бұрын
Yes two non dangerous incident's with no injuries or even a likely hood of a injury, and both subjective decisions by TMO's and Ref's. Nanny state health and safety creeping into the game. And Moore harks back to the World Cup Final red, with Lydia Thompson sent off for a high tackle she didn't make on a player who didn't have the ball, and yet Holly Davidson still continues to ref, where is Lydia's international career now ? pundits a waste of space.

Mother Nature put up more of a fight to England than the Scottish Ladies(scoreboard I mean🤪). My ma will have kicked the shite out of the tv after this result. With her, it's anyone else v England (she is a very opinionated Glaswegian woman 😂). The problem lies in the fact that at club level England and France are miles ahead of the rest of the W6N. Without a strong, competitive club structure, the gulf at international level widens vastly. Hopefully this happens soon as we want and need support grow rather than stall. Hopefully Ireland fair a bit better next.🤞🏻

Of the 34 women named in the Scotland Women extended training squad, 26 play in England in the PWR. With that in mind, I go with Brian Moore, who has repeatedly made the point that the commitment to the women's game in Scotland is not what it should, or could, be. He also gave an analysis of the funding from the 6 Nations revenues (I can't remember the details off-hand), which suggested that the Scotland union could invest that money much better. However that might be, it will take time for Scotland and the other home nations to approach the quality and strength in depth of the Red Roses. Any improvement can only be good for the game.

@@robinholland1136 I agree with both you and Brian. It takes money to make things happen and then it takes time to see the benefits of that funding. It's the same within the Ireland camp. The elite players are plying their trade in the England or 7s. Any growth is good 👍🏻
