Plus, there are 9/10 year olds in Portugal, watching and dreaming of playing for the national team, and in 10-15 years, those hungry youngsters, will be ready to go better their their hero’s if today. Same for all the other smaller nations. They need more game time against the top dogs

You know what? That's a rubbish comment. I played rugby for 40 years and coached children here in France until a few years ago when my knee finally gave up. I always put the a team squad children ( up to under 16) in the age group above for the end of session game. Play against a higher level team in training match and come Sunday tornement, it's easier. Train at a higher level than you need to play. How are second tier teams supposed to improve if they don't get to play the top teams!! This is rugby fella, not footy.
@christiancatley4120Ай бұрын
What a stupid comment
@garywagner2466Ай бұрын
Bollocks. It’s called development. Should happen more often. World Rugby is not very good at it. Tier 2 and 3 teams rarely get the opportunity to play matches at the Tier 1 level. Portugal scored 21 points against a Tier 1 team. They should be proud of that. Until players have to defend against a more sophisticated attack, they don’t really understand what it takes to do it. Now they do. Portugal will learn, just like Georgia, Fiji, Japan, Italy and Argentina did.
