As a Kiwi, I am obviously disappointed with the loss, however, the bokke have the complete game, they have a strong forward pack, momentum, and we get beaten up at the breakdown, and they play an expansive game, something that we have never given the bokke as much credit as they deserve. that All Blacks team had a winning percentage that was in the mid to high 80s and won by an average of 2-3 tries. That team was labelled as "boring" and "bad for the game" because they were far and away, level's above their competition. This current Bok team reminds me more of the 2004-2010 Boks team that just decimated everything in their path. Burger, Smith, Roussow, Brussow, Habana, JP Pietersen, Juan Smith, Botha, Matfield, Fourie, Du Plessis brothers, Strauss, Francois Louw, Willem Alberts, Ryan Kankoski etc, they were just so stacked and intimidating, when the All Blacks played them 3 times in 2009, they weren't just beaten by the Boks, they were manhandled and tossed aside.

Let's just take a moment to respect what the boks have done cause I feel people are actually forgetting a very important detail, the boks have made on average 5 to 8 changes in the squad 4 consecutive games in a row and won all of them and will probably make complete team changes for the last 2. I don't think that has ever been done, let's say they beat Argentina both games which they should that would mean they played 6 games with almost completely different teams and won all there games that would be crazy 😂

Yes we had our chances (D-mac will be literally kicking himself), but its that last quarter where we're used to dominate always... now SA have clearly gone ahead. They've got some old bones playing though and really good starts from a lot of fresh youngin's for the ABs. On the larger picture the future All Blacks look really promising. BUT, we're not used to being on the back foot or not No 1. A real psychological win for SA. A hard fought Test match once again between these two juggernauts of Rugby. I think it's great for the game that the top 4 (even top 6) are so so close to take the W. The build up towards the next world cup will be immense. Loving it! Well played boys, heads up high

The Springbok defence has become so good that it was a good strategy but they don't have the kickers to back it up. DMac while a very creative player is mentally fragile and can't land those knockout punches. The All Blacks are also starting to see the effects of playing the best flyhalf in the world at fullback or not even having him on the park over what, a decade now? He controlled games and won them for the All Blacks and then was moved and it has not worked in the long run. When Mounga left Beauden Barrett should have moved back to Flyhalf (he should have been there all along). I can see they want Barrett there for his counter attack but when he was at flyhalf he changed the outcome proactively whereas counter attack is reactive and when teams stop giving the ABs those opportunities BB is basically a spectator to the game. What has worked for the ABs in the past is not working anymore and they need to change their approach. I doubt they will, asking them to become more conservative would not go down well so they will have to go through this period and experience more pain.

I said this after getting beaten by the pumas and got called out for it but I’m sorry DMac is trash. “Oh but who else would you play at 10” bla bla bla develop a new 10 we are farken losing games anyway. Springboks, Ireland and France have all grown massively over the last five years. The ABs have not. They will still win lots of games but that aura of invincibility is now gone. The Irish and Argies know they can beat them in NZ, everyone else will be lining up to try. I think these next two games against the Aussie will be a massive deal. The expectation is that they will win both but if they don't it will be a real shock to the system for them. If they lose both it will be a disaster but I don't see that happening.

Once again the decision of New Zealand Rugby to bar foreign club players comes back to haunt them.
@carlmanvers50094 ай бұрын
That is an antiquated rule and it needs to go.
@Martin-pb7ts4 ай бұрын
I think for each country it should be what suits them. For the Boks they have many reasons for selecting foreign-based players: 1. The currency is weak and players play overseas to make money from a short career 2. most players play in Europe which is in the same time zone 3. An overnight flight and you're home. For New Zealand it is very different - NZ is very far away from most places geographically and the All Blacks jersey had such a strong allure that they managed to keep their top players on shore, so why select foreign based players? Richie McCaw, Dan Carter and that entire cohort of World Cup winners stayed on shore so why is that same rule now a problem? If you build a winning culture the players will stay in NZ. The one big mistake NZRU has made is to alienate South Africa enough to leave Super Rugby. It happened over decades of shitty treatment with South Africa bringing in 60% of the broadcasting cash and continually being ignored in the decision making process. SA didn't want endless expansion of the competition and various other issues which were ignored by NZRU and the ARU. Now this is a real problem to the future of All Blacks rugby. Although the NZ teams nearly always won, the SA teams made them what they were - as tough as nails. Now it is changing with NZ stuck playing weak opposition. This in my opinion is the biggest problem for the ABS going into the future. I think SA even want to leave the Rugby Championship. You can see that with big old fashioned test tours being announced between the two countries like the good old days. I think SA will exit the Rugby Championship at the end of the next cycle. They might stay for one more. I feel for Italy as they might get bumped out of the Six Nations to make space which will be a real blow to their rugby future as the inclusion in the 6 nations has resulted in serious improvement in their rugby over many years. Anyway I ended up writing a bloody novel!

It’s not a bad thing to lose again. Only with bold and major changes can the ABs return to the top of the rugby world. If we won 15-13 today with 5 penalties, it will only pepper over the cracks. 1) no South Africa in super rugby really hurts us. They are the best in the world. We have to play them, not just the Aussie teams we traditionally dominate. It’s not bad that Jordie is going to Ireland. If some of our players go to Europe for sabbatical instead of Japan, they can bring back new IP. 2) physically, we really have to keep getting bigger and stronger. Rugby is no longer about speed and skill or power and force. Great teams need to be great at both. 3) it’s time to discard players who are good but have reached their ceiling and don’t seem mentally strong enough to go one level higher. Unfortunately, this is Reiko, Damien, Sevu, TJ, Ofa. We really need the new blood to step up. 4) we have to find an identity of play. The Boks have a clear identity. Why do we still fixate on staying connected on defence when every other top team is all about line speed?
