Yes it does work it 2003. That Error message means that you have a foreign piece of data in the original column of data. For example, if you have dates and one of the records has text in the date field, you will get that error. You have to check all data. One way to check is to sort the column if the date column/field is sorted Z-A, then the date stored as text will come to the top.

I do not really understand what you are asking, but to group by year or month in any Excel version, drop date in PivotTable, right-click date, point to Group.

Drop the value field into the Value area 2 times. Then change the function on one to AVERAGE and one to SUM. I will make a video about this soon.

That error happens when the syntax of the range is not correct. For example, in this video, the correct range is: PivotTable!$B$21:$K$230 Put if you accidentally type a period at the end like this: PivotTable!$B$21:$K$230. That error would come up. Or any other deviation such as: PivotTable!$B$21:$K$230` or PivotTable!$B$21:$K$ I do not know what the specific cause is in your case, but that specific error message is common. Try it again 10 times... post back if want

I am not sure what the problem is. Try dragging the data to the middle, instead of the columns and rows. Then drag the categories to the columns and rows. Does your table have field names?

I use "Camtasia". Camtasia is great because when you buy the program, it comes with "how to videos"! I don't know what mic I use. It is cheap. I just bought it without looking. I have use three different ones - all are just $19.95 cheap-os.

I enjoy your videos a lot and they really helped me get into my current job which uses Excel 2007. During my last interview I was given a large amount of data with ship dates (actual and expected) for several companies and had to create a formula to display in text what was shipped on time (used the if function) and then show only the percentage of on times for each company in a Pivot Table. I could not manage to display the proper occurrences of yes per company (just total count for yes and no)

The only thing that I can think of is that you built the table with the Consolidation feature and it that case you could have only columns and rows...

Extremely helpful videos-thanks! I'm creating a multiple-sheet pivot table and perhaps that is the issue. When click finish I actually end up with a table but in the "Pivot Table Field List" all I get as options are: Row, Column, Value and Page 1...what am I doing wrong?

Was wondering if you had a video that showed something like that or even an explanation as I've tried Countifs and Countif, but can not seem to get the correct information for each company to display, just totals for the occurrence of yes in every row. I suppose I could create a countif formula for each company, but the list had over 700 rows with several different companies. Was wondering if there was an easier way.

Great videos! Here's my dilemma analyzing stocks. I am need to get the average daily volume between highs and lows of a stock price. Example: Stock movement = $19 low on 7/10/10, $21 high on 7/25, new low of $17 on 8/5 and new high on 8/17 of $23. I need to figure average daily volume of shares traded between each high and low. Help please!!! Can't figure this out. Thanks!!

If your extension is .xls it always shows up like Excel 2003. If the extension is .xlsm or .xlsx it shows up like Excel 2007. That is all I know.
