Aurora is High Functioning Autistic and yes she is a prodigy, she started writing songs before she was 9 years old, but kept them to herself until she was 11 and gave one of her songs to her parents as a gift. Angelina Jordan is described as a young person with the soul of a much older, experienced woman, Aurora is the embodiment of childlike innocence infused with wisdom. Do "Through The Eyes of a Child" the live version.

Aurora performed 3 Songs in at Nobel Piece Price. A little story about the murder song (my favorite). Aurora wrote this song after reading about a "murder" in the paper near her homeland. A man killed his wife/girlfriend out of love. She was seriously ill and suffered more every day. He released her from suffering. The song is sung from the perspective of the woman's ghost. Maybe he killed her with her consent (I hope so) or he made the decision on his own. No idea. And this is for me her darkest Song. You will only find this explanation of this song in one interview with her. It's not written anywhere else. And usually she doesn't explain her songs that specifically either, because she wants everyone to find their own story in them. This way songs stay interesting longer. That's why I also believe that this explanation was just an accident. It was also just a brief side note on a question asked, by the way. She usually only says to the song it is a true tragic love story that doesn't end well. It should be said that this News was an inspiration for this song. That doesn't have to mean that the song itself is about it. But since it all fits together, I think so. Of course, it is written in such a way that many interpretations are possible. Just like Aurora actually always does. I would recommend "I went to far" live at the Honda stage. At the beginning she also says what this song is about and, as always, is very funny.

Interesting that you mention her parents. In the Haik Documentary she mentions that her parents would set a place at the table for her imaginary friends. Also, when she didn’t want to celebrate her birthday they were fine with that. They just wanted her to be herself. There is also a clip in the documentary of her as a child looking through binoculars, perhaps at the moon. She turns to the videographer (presumably her father) and offers the binoculars asking if he would like to take a look. It’s just such a generous moment and seems to portend her willingness to share her experience with others.

Aurora Aksnes is the mermaid from the other magical Universe. She's 24 now, from Norway. She wrote her first songs when she was 9. Very natural, very beautiful and mesmerizing. Every song she wrote has a backstory so keep that in mind. For example River is about Men suicides caused by their mental issues by covering their trouble feelings, so she as a woman decided to wrote it to support them. The song Runaway she wrote when she was 11. So mature, humble and loving soul she is. Angel...

You had a lot of insight into Aurora over a year ago. She's talked about how her parents let her be whatever she wanted to be in the most literal of senses. She had no pressure to conform, and she seems to be have been deeply non-conformist.

You're right, she is super special. Really nice reaction, btw. And she was super special already as a child, not comfortable among her classmates and seeking peace and quiet alone, reflecting on observations she did "out there." Her older sisters were afraid she would be bullied for her "wierdness," but things worked out fine, and she did her things, like writing song from the age of 6 or 7, I think. It was not in her mind to become a performer, but her mother convinced her that her songs might be important for other people after hearing her at the age of 14/15. She was an introvert, and it's told that her 100 first concerts were really painful for her. She was 19 singing here, can you imagine? So she is 24 now, and has this huge catalogue of wonderful songs and masterful performances. Special, super creative, one of a kind, maybe not for everyone, but for many she is everything. Please watch, for yourself or as a reaction, the very sweet and short documentary "Nothing is eternal," only about 14 minutes. Will give you a glimpse into her life, views and thinking.

Funny fact- she brought a pine cone to pressconference for this same peace prise event and everybody thought - well, that was wird🤔and she was relatively unknown at that time for wider audience in Norway. Press asked some questions about peace and such, she answered so wisely and with such insight that you coud see everyone go "wow"... never mind this pinecone.

AURoRA musical journey started when she was 6, she started playing WITH the piano. Her older sister had stop'd doing her lessons, so she thought it looked lonely. She started writing at age 9. RUNAWAY she wrote when she was 11, in an inspired hour. This live performance is so beautiful... AURoRA goes into some kind of trance, yes. She said herself first time she saw a live performance she got a bit shocked. She didn't remember her moving like that.

Aurora really is an old soul. She couldn't get much out of children her age. They were absolutely overwhelming for her because she is so emphatic. She needed rest and she found it in the elderly or stayed to herself. So she came into contact with adult topics from the ground up.

Who is Aurora. 1 of 3 sisters. Lived in a house by the fjord of light (Lysefjorden) and with forest around. Here Aurora roamed on her own thinking. She grew up without radio or tv, and only some records of Dylan and Cohan. At 6 she found a broken El. piano in the house. She had to hold the on button down so she learned to play with one hand 🙂. No one knew but she started to add lyrics when she had the words at 11yo, in english! One of her first is Lucky. Still no one knew, untill she wanted to sing for her parents as a gift. She didn't dare to, but made a record instead. 14yo. She also sang at a school event 14yo. Someone leaked it an it was picked up by someone in the music industry. Aurora did not want to become an artist but her mother said that her music was like medicine to her and could be important to some body. And it is.. 🤗 She was very nervous and allways sick before shows, but now she is ok with it. And now it is 10 years of music history.. 😊 Aurora loves the creative prosess and may change from music to something else. She is a good painter and writer as well. Totally self taught except from some dancing clases. You should check out some of her interviews. 🙂 There is an article with her in "The News" internasjonal about Runaway and Its resent popularity. Its trending big time.. 😉

You would enjoy seeing video of her at a press conference (she brought a pine cone, which is great, but she also answered questions), as well an interview immediately after walking off the stage following performing this song. There’s also a third song she performed (first) in this set, not as interesting as Runaway and this one, but it’s worth watching video of the complete performance to hear her speak (briefly) between the songs.

Really enjoyed your reaction to this performance by AURORA! For a great AURORA music video, I recommend her environmental anthem "The Seed!" And I strongly recommend reactions to various live performances, for instance, her highly energetic KEXP performance in Iceland (with Bjork in the audience), where she sings "Churchyard" and "All is Soft Inside,” among others; as well as the Nidarosdomen Concert (in a cathedral with orchestral ensemble and choir), particularly the songs "It Happened Quiet," "Through the Eyes of a Child," "Little Boy in the Grass" and "Lucky." She also has some great covers: Ariana Grande's "God is a Woman," David Bowie's "Life on Mars," Massive Attack's "Teardrop," Leonard Cohen's "The Partisan," to name a few.

She was born in 1996. She started to compose at age 6, the words was added at age 9. She did not perform AT ALL, except very seldom in front of her family. Even that she did not like..... Somebody put a song on Face of her singing at the last day at school (first time!!), and a friend gave her a recording (2-3 hour studio session), and they put it on SoundCloud or something... Then the management heard it, asked her if she wanted to be an artist.... She said NO !!!! :-) - But her mother told her that her songs was like medicine to her, and it might help others, and that it would be kind of selfish not to share it...... She was signed in 2012, got 3 record deals (not sure when), started to get on Norwegian radio in 2014, did a cover of "half the world away" late 2015 (got to 11 place on UK Singles charts). March 2016: first album, 2018: album 2, 2019 album 3. Aurora is an over sensitive, highly intelligent woman. There is 3 documentaries about her. The "biggest" one got the reward for best Nordic documentary at the Nordic Panorama. It is named "En gang Aurora". She "hates" her song Conqueror, she was "pressured" to include it in her album. Later she told her management: If I ever again has to give out something I don't want to: I will quit! She also told her sisters: If I can't be me, what's the point? It took over 100 shows before she even liked to be at stage... Now she loves it, especially the venues you can see the audience... She say that preforming at festivals is like looking out on the ocean, and it is nice, but she likes to interact with "every member" in the crowd, and like smaller crowds... Her musical influences are Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan and Enja. This is mostly by memory: so I might have a few things wrong... I am sure somebody will correct me.... And I am sure it is a bit messy written... :-) sorry about that...

She doesn't hate Conqueror. She hates performing this song on small stages because she can't dance to it as she wants. She hates being restricted from pressure from others. There was a bad arguing with her management about it. The original version she plays on stages where she can dance and move. For the smaller stages there is the acoustic guitar version. And all are happy.

@@HighlyCombustibleReacts She was 19 here in Oct 2015, though she looks younger in my opinion, and she will be 25 soon in June 2021. She was discovered in 2 ways in 2012-13, from what I read/heard: By someone posting a video on facebook of a school performance (10th grade graduation) watch?v=3MS7iax8qyI, and she also made a song recording as a present for her parents, which someone posted on a Norwegian version of Soundcloud. Everything was kind of accidental, she never dreamt about performing only about writing music, but her mother persuaded her to share her voice and music with the world: watch?v=WSRwxwohtjs&t=3m5s (CC for subs) First single "Awakening" released in 2013. I think her first real performance was March 2014 at "by:Larm" (city:noise) watch?v=n-nHFuec7_8, a Norwegian music festival where new and unknown artists can perform. First US concert Oct 2014 NYC: watch?v=911OkEny1tY. First EP in May 2015, then in March 2016 first album released and live on Jimmy Fallon: watch?v=IwNoXFgg8lo and then onward from there. Her own words about performing live: watch?v=gWa68W9sUC4&t=26m7s "I think it took me about 2 years to enjoy being on stage.....cause it is not a natural thing for me to..., I dunno, the attention thing is very strange" 26:40 "...because I have so much energy when I sing, and I can feel like, you know. It comes from like a different place, like from the place of music, if it's....you know, this divine place. I get like, I get too much energy for my tiny human shape."

The organizers were going to change the format for 2019 but it didn't happen. At this stage there are no plans for next year (it is too late for this year). Hopefully if it returns, Aurora will be invited to perform again as a few artists have appeared at more than one concert. I know a lot of fans claim that this is about a euthanasia/mercy killing, BUT when you watch her performance AND parse out some of the lyrics, I believe it's not about that at all. When you watch her acting out the lyrics, the main emotions I get are FEAR AND HORROR, the way her eyes project this and the shuddering way she moves her hands over her arms, imo if it were strictly a mercy killing, where he's saving her from the suffering of some terrible disease or such, there should be more simple sorrow and maybe acceptance, but that's not what it looks like to me (yes, it's MY interpretation lol ;?) And this one lyric sticks out for me where she says, "I know HE KNOWS that he's killing me for mercy", which could be interpreted to mean HE THINKS he's killing her for mercy - if she knew it as well, wouldn't she just say "I know he's killing me for mercy", but she chose to put it in those terms, and YES it could just be those words just fit rhythmically or poetically, but then she's very careful with the way she crafts her lyrics which makes me think this is the case. Violence against women is a global plague, and the statistics show that the vast majority of female murder victims are killed by someone they know or even love, and we've all seen the thousands of news stories about men, whether jilted lovers, mentally unbalanced co-workers/stalkers and exes killing women and using unhinged rationalizations. I've read several accounts of husbands/fathers who have lost their jobs or ruined financially and decide to kill not only themselves but also their wives and children, believing that he's saving them from the suffering of poverty, social stigma and other deranged excuses. So that's the vibe I get from this song, that it's possibly about an ex-lover or deranged stalker who is the killer, a more grim and certainly less romantic meaning than a lot of her other fans would like the story to be ;?)
