Night of Tarantula (La Notte della Taranta) is a music festival from Salento, Apulia, (Italy). Many singers perform during this yearly festival. Mahmood is from Egyptian father and Italian mother that's why he knows to sing Arabic, this is not his usual music style which you will see during the next weeks. This song is so beautiful and sung by the heart, i can play this over and over again. Glad you liked too. And about his voice, he always sings like that as you will hear in my next requests.

Mahmood father is Egyptian, he left the family when Mahmood was a child but he used to play this song on the stereo in the car and I believe this has amplified the emotion he has poured out while singing. The song is an Egyptian hit of the early 2000s here with a new arrangement and Mahmood who doesn't speak Arabic said he studied the lyrics with his cousin who corrected his pronunciation constantly. You are correct to say that his singing style sounds arabic, Mahmood sings applying the so called Arabic scale that makes him sound so different and easily recognizable. Notte della Taranta is a folkloristic event taking place every year in August in Puglia a region in the heel of Italy to celebrate the traditional music of the area rearranging it with new styles, the venues are several piazze (squares) and is attended by an audience of approx 100k viewers.

Translation:I Don't Have The Patience I didn't come here to tell you to come back, I don't have the patience Why should I come closer if every time you run away from me, you keep me awake at night You took away my spirit, my life, my mind, and you have left me with a broken heart Your love makes me suffer, it tortures me, torments me Poor me No, no, no, no I didn't come here to tell you to come back, I don't have the patience Why should I come closer if every time you run away from me, you keep me awake at night You took away my spirit, my life, my mind, and you have left me with a broken heart Your love makes me suffer, it tortures me, torments me Poor me No, no, no, no Who knows, swallow, What sea you have crossed Who knows, swallow, What sea you have crossed I didn't come here to tell you to come back, I don't have the patience Why should I come closer if every time you run away from me, you keep me awake at night You took away my spirit, my life, my mind, and you have left me with a broken heart Your love makes me suffer, it tortures me, torments me Poor me No, no, no, no lyricstranslate.com

Hey Paul thanks for your reaction, the song indeed is sung in Arabic, but the verse that the woman is singing is in Greek language.

That isn’t true. The woman is singing in a dialect language of Puglia (a region of the south of Italy)
