Hello Matt That smoke is indeed the webasto heater. I have a td6 and its the same. Under 4 degrees Celsius outside temperature the webasto heater kicks in to help the engine warm up quicker. When the engine is warm it stops. If it don’t stops your thermostat is broken. I pulled out the fuse in the glove compartment. I mean why would u need this. Heated steering wheel, heated seat, heated front window, and the engine can warm up on its own like every other car😂😜 Cant wait to see more video’s about this car. Keep up the good work.

£16k spend over 17 years isn't bad at all, it's £941 a year, at least half of that would be servicing, then tyres.... most Mercs would have had probably double that spent in that time.

But, don't drive in Marrakech, nothing good will come of that , not even in a Rangey. Oh and there is nowhere to park in Central Marrakech. Unless you stay at The Savoy😂

Ive also got a 2007 TDV8, and for the price it is everything you want from a car. It’s still 80% the same feel as my old 2019 L405 SDV6. The reality is, it cost me £1500 and I’ll run it until it’s not viable to repair, but so far so good!

I am in a similar position - I have a 3.9 P38 which I have owned for 20 or so years, a 4.4Tdv8 L322 which I have owned about 4 years and a 4.4 SDV8 L405, which I have just bought a few months ago - I absolutely love them all, each of them have their own character and get used for different roles…. Well that’s how I justify my ‘Habit’ or RR ‘addiction’ 😳.

If you can get to the back of the arch on a ramp, where it meets the sill is a direct access hole (bad design) that fills with mud and road muck. When they rot out on the arch you can see straight through to the source which is this hole/gap to the rear. Steam it out treat it with Hydrate 80 and fill with good quality clear cavity wax.

Worth every penny you paid buying, and every pound you’ll be spending to keep it going. I recently bought a RR 2002 4.4 V8, Petrol, and while the list of things to get sorted is a long as my arm, I just love driving the thing, whenever, and wherever I can. Words really can’t describe it to be honest, but I think it would be apt and timely to say that I feel like a kid on Christmas Day every time I get in it and drive. The way I see it, at least I can say i’ve owned one of these before the time the roads are 100% leccy motors.

Matt. If you haven’t got an option on the infotainment screen for timed climate then you may not have the option to just buy a remote for the DPH. All of them had a DPH which automatically kicks in at around 4 degrees. So just because you have a DPH it doesn’t mean you can use a remote. I think you can buy a remote unit to attach to the DPH so a remote will then work. I am looking forward to your updates. I have had two L320 sports, my last has just died with a crankshaft and I have just bought a 2012 L322 4.4 tdv8 which does have a remote.

Inside and out i think this is peak Range Rover. I like the chunkier buttons inside and mix of switches and screen, feels more unique than the newer models and for a while if you were going to get an autograph from a band it was out of the window of one of these. For 90k miles that's worn impressively well.

I'll give you a bit of inside information...I used to work at Sainsbury's years ago. Sainsbury's use BP, hence why they have exactly the same choices as a BP garage. Morrisons used to use Texaco-Haveline. The rumour about supermarket fuel being inferior was started by Shell marketing back in the 90s, after it was feared that they would lose market share to the supermarkets. Obviously the ludicrous idea that somehow fuel that comes from the same refinery and has the same additives is somehow inferior is still believed by a few people out there.

Unfortunately your webasto is close to repair. No webasto either diesel or gasoline do smoke like that when they are full working order. You better fix it before it goes to lock because it did not start. It may only need that equipment in the combustion chamber to get rid of the smoke. Pre heaters will smoke heavily when temperature outside is -15 and colder. Then the moisture in the exhaust is clearly seen. If you do not want to repair the webasto. Turn the autostart off so it does not start with the engine.

Excellent bargain. Those TDV6's need to be driven a good distance every couple of weeks or so. Keep the tow bar, or you'll be looking at that rash on the bumper every day and it will niggle you until you end up paying to get it sorted. Most people will use the TDV6 for towing anyway, which makes sense with such a high torque motor.

That's a lovely L322 Matt! I personally prefer the petrol V8's though. Not even remotely a proper V8 sound of it's a diesel. Like you mentioned these are very torquey so will pull like a train. Only thing about these TDV8's I see more of these diesel V8's for sale for spares or repairs than the M62 or AJV8 for sale. Every time I click on an advert "engine seized" or blown turbos... It's a shame if you sell the black 4.4. keep you with the L322 content though can't beat it! 😀

I am amazed at the price of second hand cars in the UK , so cheap ,,,,,!!! it surely makes a very expensive business buying from new due to the depreciation

Cheap for a reason 😂. It's alright buying them it's running them and keeping them going that is the expensive stuff

Keep the towbar Matt, it's always a handy parking aid.

I’m convinced it’s better to properly maintain a good used car and change every few years than buying the new boring appliances being pushed at us today. Good video project.

That’s a lovely example 🥰 take the tow bar off (unless you’re going to use it) they’re ugly. Look forward to an update 😀👍🏻

Hi Matt. Please do a video on which automatic runaround to buy between 5k and 10k. Lots of other people asking in comment sections. Also, any advice on potential semi-autos, or is it just a flat out 'avoid'? Thanks.
