The only new car I ever bought with my own money was a 2013 3.0d premium luxury driven out the showroom on the 1st September 2013. I got a mega deal as I had bought a 2009 XF second hand which was a dog so they sorted me out as they say. I ran it in for a month before driving it to Stuttgart for Octoberfest , maxing it out on the Autobahn, and took it around the Nurburgring on the way back. Needles to say I loved it but ultimately had to sell it to finance going self employed. Needless to say they are almost my favourite car , almost because I now own a 1968 Mk2 which is my all time favourite. @@danielcoganmanzanas3676 I had one for 3 years and put 46k on it. Never once had an EGR or DPF issue. All depends how you drive them. If you do a lot of town driving then you’ll get problems. If you ever do get the red DPF warning just take it down a dual carriageway and lock it into 2nd gear and keep the revs up so the DPF gets nice and hot. One of the causes of DPF issues is people switching off the car when it’s mid cycle on a regen. The other potential issue is diesel dilution in the oil. Jaguar injects fuel on the exhaust stroke to increase the exhaust temperature to aid the cleaning process. Keep an eye on your oil level and if you see it going up or starting to smell of fuel, get an oil change as quickly as possible. If necessary, drain as much as you need to prevent it being over full.

Hi Matt - XF's at this age went for soft touch switches. This coating normally fades and looks awful. Hence the naff looking gear selector etc. Best solution most people have found is rubbing alcohol to remove the coating but try not to dissolve the printing. Can be a pain ITA job but can be worth it if they look rough. #2012XFwithnaffswitches #Steve - absolute best cheap (£10) add on is a 3/4 keycase that covers everything but the front - otherwise when you drop the fob you can lose the emergency key. Sat Nav can be updated via USB for about £100 (for any buyers!!) - I'd do it "cos the voice is rather lovely!!" but you do have to keep the car running for about 3 hrs to do it (seriously!!)

the 1st owner being a rep would make sense, i'm sure at the time company car tax was based on the basic vehicle price so often company cars would be entry level but have a load of options added on and you wouldnt pay anymore on car BIK

The little wheels would be far better on our roads than 20" - or whatever they are- rims and low profile tyres

I’m buying a Jaguar XF S 3.0 x260 atm it has 15,7k extra options on it and it’s for sale for 16k! Basically only paying for the options would of been over 65k new without adjusting for inflation

Interested to see what your getting I'm also buying XF S x260 not sure on the cost of the extras but I'm getting the bigger screen, sunroof and heated wheel.

Love the vids. Back in March 2019 I bought a CLK 320, 52K on the clock, one owner. Nice, but only one key. After a few weeks I thought that I had better get another made, just in case. So, booked it into a place to have one made. I think that it was going to cost me £150. Then, unbelievably, the day before I was due to take the car in I got an email from the previous owner. "Hi. Just come across the other key. What's your address so I can send it?" I NEVER have luck like that. Normally, I'd have had the 2nd key made and THEN got that email! Still got the car, just clicked around into the 64 Ks. LG.

Just guessing from my past car industry career, this car might have been built in 2011 but if it was built late in the year, it would be a 2012 Model Year. Hence the facelift features. Yep, I jumped the gun and wrote this before the carvertical report came in. Another great video. I live on the other side of the planet and I have reduced the number of car channels to a handful - HPA is a fav. And you're a 'good egg' ... if a bit scrambled. 😎

We got scammed with a XF 2014. Paid like 13K EUR ish (converted, I'm from the gulf) The person was very smart with the scam and even changed everything to Miles to fool the less mileage. He did much more, but we were pretty darn gullible and fell into it.

Just some information the 2.2 is chain driven so no cam belt worries 👍🏻

The 2.2 is definitely a belt

The 2.2d is not chain driven, but cam belt. I had mine replaced at 100,000 km.

I'd very happily use that as daily. I'd even leave the paint and minor bits and bobs that want doing.

I still can't understand why people sell cars looking like that. The mini valet for £15.00 would easily give a 10:1 return every day of the week. Why do people sell vehicles looking like that?

I dunno, I supose cos its a giveaway price I suppose

Smaller wheels with higher profile tyres could be an advantage these days, considering the state of Britains roads. After driving all over our green and pleasant land this week, I found myself wondering every time I sank into another hole, how some massive alloys on ultra low profile tyres would survive this constant battering. Fortunately, I was in my Crafter van with steel wheels.

So I’m typing this comment before I’ve seen the car. I thinking of getting one of these- I hope my dreams aren’t destroyed! Edit- I’m not put off! I now know which model I want. Which is the same as your brothers. The xf-s. Great review pal. Nice one. My mind is now set!

Watch out for electrical niggles. And Dab radio, prone to module failing. Aerial in rear window, check it works with heated rear screen on!
