Hunted 2 mornings for teal at my cabin near the Canadian border. Normally few if any teal around but had projects going on so hunting was a "if something shows up I'll shoot it" game. Zero shows fired. No teal in the area. A gazillion wood ducks and plenty of geese, mallards, and ringnecks though. Still a good weekend just playing with the birds and felt good to throw decoys again. I'll be back for those birds in a few weeks.

Waterfowl opens in a week in my area! Cannot wait. I have a 5 day trip of small game and waterfowl hunting coming up on opening day with a few buddies. It's going to be great

Hi Matt Nice teal outing in the mudflats. When I've hunted on mudflats, where shorebirds and waders are common, I've used several blue heron decoys PAINTED WHITE to mimic egrets which also use mudflats like shorebirds. White snow goose silouettes, rags, etc. also work similarly. Best, Rick Kaminski

Another fun hunt! We don’t get a separate teal season in Utah, so I was wondering if you have to stop hunting them before the end of the regular duck season to compensate for the early hunt?
