Why is it bad?

@@hupo The smaller space of an underpass amplifies the wind speed of any passing tornado. Meaning you'll be more likely to get sucked out under it. If a tornado is barreling towards you and you are not able to outrun it, get out of the car and hide in a ditch, then lay as flat on the ground as possible.

Wow... that time-lapse was beautiful. That's crazy how close a tornado formed to the rocky mountains. (Especially in a densely populated city.) You can see the exact moment when the tornado hits that several story tall building and it looses it's structure, then quickly reforms to be really powerful and dense wedge.

Was there any rating given to the tornado? Good photos and good to warn about overpass hiding. There is a video out there of people hiding up under an overpass as a small tornado passed through. They were crouched up as small as they could get at the highest place they could go.The wind was tremendous and they were very lucky that no objects were being thrown by it or the injuries would have been serious. This was on here quite a few years ago.

The large tornado, the day before in Akron, Colorado (filmed by Tony Laubach), had a satellite tornado spinning a half mile around the parent tornado under a huge collar cloud, and would have shredded cars like a cheese grater. It was on the ground for more than 40 minutes. Colorado can and does get big mesocyclone tornadoes, just not as many as Texas, fortunately.
