Great show keith. We have a few deer farms in the ares I hunt in here in Australia. They captured a few wild ones got them to start breeding up and good gentices and set them free for hunters to enjoy over the years. They animals are red stags or knowning here as the Queensland red deer. Queensland is a large state of Australia. Great to hunt them with rifle and bow up in the hills.

I understand that genetics matter most but how much does feed with minerals help the antler growth? Thanks!

Is there a resource where you can go to see where deer farms are legal? I live in Tennessee and everything I am finding says that it is not allowed in my state. It has been a dream of mine for years and I am wanting to start a deer farm. Thank you for your help love the show

The drops on their antlers looks like a deformation rather than a superior pedigree. It's repulsive on such a species.

What happens in the winter? Do the deers go inside or are they left outside through out the winter? Love watching your show. I know nothing about deers, bucks, but I love watching the beautiful Bucks you show...
@markm.95977 жыл бұрын
They are technically wild animals. Farmers use different techniques and Barns aren't necessary to keep snow and wind away from them if they need it; 3 sided roofed shelter and thick trees/shrubs are enough to suffice
@HighRoadHunting7 жыл бұрын
Howdy Mikey, the deer stay outside. They are wild animals- in areas where there are tough winters, the deer are naturally built to withstand the cold elements.

I just came across this and had no idea there was such a thing. Pedigree? Where would someone get a deer with a pedigree and why? Does a pedigree change the quality of meat? I'm very curious.

How do you know if it is a good genetic doe?

There is no way to tell unless you have DNA or know where that doe came from.

What dose he only show the deer when the are in velvet? Also what do the look like when they are not in velvet
@Crazymikeyyy7 жыл бұрын
Jackson Powell he said they cut the antlers after the velvet because the Bucks start fighting
@HighRoadHunting7 жыл бұрын
We visited D Bar while the bucks were still in the velvet, so this is the footage we have. Once they are out of the velvet, their antlers are cut so that they don't kill each other.

I DON'T THINK YOU WILL SEE THIS KEITH BUT I WAS WONDERING HOW MUCH IT IS TO GO TO LEGEND REACH OR YOUR PROPERTY BECAUSE I WANT TO HARVEST MY FIRST BUCK AND I AM A 13 AND WE HAVE A HUNT CAMP OF OUR OWN AND WE DO IF ITS BROWN ITS DOWN BUT IN MY THOUGHT IS WE SHOULD ALL BE DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING
@HighRoadHunting7 жыл бұрын
Howdy! You are so right. In order to have a healthy deer herd you've got to manage and not follow the "if its brown, its down" method. For more information on hunting at Legend's Ranch, check out their website to contact them: www.legendsranch.com. Matti and I will be there next December and it would be a pleasure to hunt with you. Check out texashiddenspringsranch.com to look into hunts at my ranch.

1:33 and moments before and after; how can one say those vestiges on those antlers don't look like cancer growths? I'm not at all against wildlife farming, far from it to be honest but something just ain't right about those deer there.

Sorry, Keith, but the sound levels are all over the place. They are soft, they are loud, they switch from second to second. I know how hard it is to get good quality, consistent sound. You are so consistently excellent on "The High Road" that this episode of this series was a surprising letdown. Sorry.

Kinda takes the intensity and satisfaction out of hunting to me. Like shooting fish in a barrel ain't no sport in that. Anyone can shoot when it's kept in basically a back yard setting. Well I guess when people willing to pay big dollars to say "I went Hunting" lol JUST my opinion

Please stop what you're doing. That is not what a white tail is supposed to look like.
@brianwilson17867 жыл бұрын
Burleson Smith so who is it that gets the privilege to set the standards on what a whitetail is suppose to look like? You do understand that these big deer are produced through genetics and good nutrition don’t you? I don’t go out everyday with a bucket of clay and mold them they are exactly what their genetics make them to be.
@dangarloch16815 жыл бұрын

I am a disabled hunter that wants to give back and manage/raise blacktail in the northwestern states. We are in desperate need of blacktail deer from the west coast of Washington to the redwood coast of California. We need everything from managed lands for hunters and farms/land to raise the deer. Please HELP
@markm.95977 жыл бұрын
It's illegal to raise/farm deer in the state of Washington as of 1992 (unless you grandfather them). Oregon strictly regulates and Idaho is a big producer of Fallow Deer. I myself am getting into the deer farming business and the only way people learn about what is going on is by contacting other people who are aware of what's going on
This is not hunting this is going to the store and picking out what you want. Are you really proud of yourself after shooting a animal in a cage ?

Huntin any those pet deers on yer rainch Mr.Warren . Do those deers taste better when all the supplies a feller needs is given to im ? I wisht I had me a rainch and free stuff .Rather watch real guys hunt , that pay their own way , and can't hire guided hunts for tame deer ...just my opinion , used to watch Noel Feather too ,until the truth came out about him.
