This year we brought five of the most promising and exciting newcomers of Reeperbahn Festival 2022 on stage in a unique setting: At the Xessions at resonanzraum we experienced the selected acts in an intimate atmosphere - and not only that: the shows were professionally recorded with a 360-degree stagescape and because of this impressive mediaproduction we’re now able to rewatch the artists performance right here on KZbin!
Formed in 2020, HighSchool (initially called Rosary) initially rehearsed in a storage container in a Melbourn suburb and shortly thereafter evolved from a two people to a trio when their bassist ran out of money in Poland and had to return home. Soon the debut single "Frosting" was recorded and released, followed by their first album in 2021 called "Forever at Last". It's a statement of melancholic goth-pop, with nostalgic synth-sounds and lo-fi vocal effects mixing effortlessly with a bunch of shrill guitars.
Reeperbahn Festival is the biggest club festival in Europe and the largest European platform for international pop culture and the music industry. Since 2006, for four days each September the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, Germany has become the center of the international music world and a sustainable interface between artists, the public, industry representatives and society. The Conference program is aimed at professional visitors from all segments of the music industry from around the world.
The Reeperbahn Festival takes place under the sign of togetherness - racism, sexism, homophobia and exclusion have no place with us.

In diesem Jahr haben wir fünf der vielversprechendsten und spannendsten Newcomer*innen des Reeperbahn Festivals 2022 in einzigartigem Rahmen auf die Bühne geholt: Bei den Xessions im resonanzraum konntet ihr die ausgewählten Acts vor kleinem Publikum in intimer Atmosphäre erleben - und nicht nur das: Die Shows wurden mit einem 360-Grad-Bühnenbild professionell aufgezeichnet und dank dieser aufwändigen Medienproduktion können wir die Performance der Künstler*innen hier auf KZbin nochmal erleben!
2020 gegründet, probten HighSchool (damals noch Rosary genannt) anfangs in einem Lagercontainer in einem Vorort Melbourns und entwickelten sich kurze Zeit später vom Zweier- zum Dreiergespann, als ihrem Bassisten in Polen das Geld ausging und er in seine Heimat zurückkehren musste. Bald wurde die Debütsingle "Frosting" aufgenommen und released, gefolgt von ihrem ersten Album in 2021 “Forever at Last“. Es ist ein Statement des melancholischen Goth-Pops, bei dem sich nostalgische Synthi-Sounds und Lo-Fi-Gesangseffekte mühelos mit einer Menge schriller Gitarren vermischen.
Seit dem Debüt im Jahr 2006 hat sich das Reeperbahn Festival zu einem der wichtigsten Treffpunkte für die Musikwelt entwickelt und zeigt, wie sich ein überbordendes musikalisches Line-Up mit musikwirtschaftlichen Interessen und zivilgesellschaftlichem Engagement verbinden lässt. Neben Konzerten umfasst das Programm auch Formate aus der Bildenden Kunst oder Virtual Reality sowie ein thematisch vielfältiges Film- und Literaturangebot.
Unsere Festivals finden im Zeichen des Miteinanders statt - Rassismus, Sexismus, Homophobie und Ausgrenzung finden bei uns keinen Platz.
