Don't be deceived by her fluency and boldness...she jxt spoke out of ignorance. She has 0.1% knowledge of NSMQ and 0% knowledge of teachers in category A and the purported Category F. The sacrifices teachers in the category F make in order to make their students better far exceeds that of the A schools. A school teachers are mostly lazy. It's the students self effort and intrinsic motivation that is producing the good results not the teachers. Richlove is only a good talkative not a good critical thinker. Words but no works

@@victorhammond6570First of all, how did you do the math to determine the 0.1% knowledge she has about nsmq and the 0%... I'm curious to know the data and the statistical tools used for arriving at those percentages. Also, if you watch her previous interview, you'll realise that you've misunderstood what she said. She never said the teachers in school "A" are better than those in school "F". What she said was that the good students get sent to schools like presec and prempeh. Not the other way round

To answer her question, without the nsmq, Ghana would lose the amount of people with passion for science and math as the nsmq inspires students to pursue science and probably stem education. However, I do agree with her in many ways. I'm yet to watch the full video of the first interview and I believe there'll be much sense in it. I seriously don't expect to agree with 100% of her words, at her level, kudus to her. One just has to applaud her for the truths or sense she conveyed. I'm passionate about the nsmq but yes, it shouldn't be the benchmark for determining which school is the best. We can do better as a nation.

True science nerds don't need a frivolous tv show to inspire them to study the sciences or pursue a STEM career. The real inspiration for the competent study of the physical sciences, originates from the insatiable desire to learn and discover how the natural physical world works - right down to the atomic level. And also, a passion to create advanced technologies (by applying the natural laws of science) to improve the human standard of living.

I like her way of thinking. In my country, its mainly the famous and most expensive schools that get to do national math contests. I know of many brilliant people who came from the so called inexpensive schools. The secret to success usually stays with individual students. Personally i respect more the students who succeeds inspite of whether the school doesn't have the best facilities.

The girl is smart no doubt but I think should speak with facts. Most of the Ghanaian students who make it to Ivy league schools and make impact globally all got that opportunity not because they are smart. Is because they have participated in a National competition. The likes of Azunre ( Owasss 2002), Adoley ( Mansite 2013) Contonma ( Botwe 2014) Azu( Adisco 2013) and many others all got such top class schools not just because of their grades not forgetting our very own Francisca Lamini who is now in Havard. So if she says we will not lose anything when the quiz is no more then that's accurate display of ignorance. Just like the national football team this quiz give our young students educational advantage internationally.

Also, her little experiment suggesting that swapping teachers between A-class schools and those in C or D class schools will produce different and better academic performance in the lower class schools is a highly flawed conjecture. One of the leading factors in the performance of students in renowned schools is not "good teachers" but rather "good students". The conglomeration or gathering of a significant number of students with some of the best minds from junior high schools creates an environment that enables them to compete and sharpen each other. I know this cuz I experienced this. Good students including NSMQ students mostly study and learn most of the curriculum by themselves. Teachers account to only about 40% of their progress and mostly the teacher only play a significant role in first year and half of second year.
@danieltunyinko4841
@danieltunyinko4841 8 күн бұрын
In the first video she said something similar to this. So what she is saying here again is that, if the swap produces different results, meaning the teachers from the A had a great impact on the performance of C or D then the GES is not doing something right by only sending "good teachers" to some schools and not to others....
@danieldanso5366
@danieldanso5366 8 күн бұрын
@@danieltunyinko4841 "Good" teachers?? I believe any person who is qualified to be a teacher at the Secondary school level has sufficient knowledge to teach to students, But what determines the quality of a teacher is how committed they are to ensure that knowledge is passed or understanding is established. The GES has no hand in that. I believe any teacher in a D class school who has sufficient resolve in helping the students can do so in their own capacity. The systems in the school also determine the output of a teacher. If they motivated well, they will all perform.

In as much as she’s making a point, she’s still naive in so many things. 1. The contestants you see that represent the schools are not the only ones groomed. There are a lot and the best are chosen. 2. They don't just memorise formulas and facts as she just said it. They understand concepts and apply them. 3. The NMSQ doesn't ask for mere formulas. The questions are twisted to see how they apply or are able to use learnt formulas in different situations. There are sections of the quiz that even ask how science correlates with some daily human life activities. 4. Majority of the participants excel in their WASSCE and gain scholarships to study abroad and in the country. So I'd advice she does her research well before saying some things. When she grows and starts to learn correct critical thinking in Philosophy, she should ask what "Argumentum ad Populum" means or what the "fallacy of hasty generalisation" is.
