Exceptional Engineering: Hightech in the Air
At Munich Airport, the world's most modern long-haul aircraft is ready to take off from the runway. The engines start and almost silent, the passenger jet rolls faster and faster to the end point of the runway and takes off. For Lufthansa, the first aircraft of the type A 350 has made a big step into a new world of passenger flight. Airbus' latest aircraft, due to its capacity and condition, is ideal for a Munich hub.

Boeing lost its credibility and public trust. I'll never fly Boeing. Not only did Boeing knowingly allow dangerous aircraft to fly it also conspired to down play and limit the damage to its reputation. The FAA is no longer a leader in passenger safety its only interest is to protect psychopaths that run Boeing. Completely unacceptable.

@@iawarenow658 The reason the jet stalls is the jet engines are too far forwards. Boeing put the jet engines forward because they would not fit under the wing. To try to counteract the tendency to pitch up they devised a software solution that didnt work effectively. The jets erroneously pitched upwards which caused them to stall. The result was pilots wrestling the controls trying to nose down. That couldn't work because software was instructed to nose up. Ultimately the software solution caused the jets to crash.

So harsh - but what the heck are we supposed to do about these sociopaths? Theyre making the same level of decisions which end up killing people, that they felt were necessary to get into and maintain the CEO position. And that worked, until it didnt. Although my guess is that the Boeing CEO that has lost his seat as the chairman of the board will be doing just fine once thisis out of the mainstream media. So really, could it be us all making a joke out of their tragic deaths by letting these people continue on their paths of terror? The joke is on us.

Balazs Totfalusi That could be the Boeing 2707 concept which at first it was designed to have a variable sweep wing. But as problems were accumulating, they put aside at first the variable sweep wings and, as the financial support was running out, the concept itself. Boeing 2707 never saw the sky.

@theharper1
@theharper1 4 жыл бұрын
@Paul Litchfield not the same software or issue. The 737 Max had a tendency for the nose to lift due to the extra power and high positioning of the engines. The software attempted to restore the aircraft behaviour to be consistent with earlier versions. The 787 is a completely new aircraft (as the Max should have been) and doesn't have the same issue and therefore no MCAS.
@theharper1
@theharper1 4 жыл бұрын
@Paul Litchfield MCAS came about because Boeing wanted the type certification for the 737 Max to be the same as other 737 variants so pilots didn't have to train for a new type certification. The Max should have been a whole new aircraft instead, but that would take too long and they would lose market share to Airbus. Sadly, the MCAS design failure has had the same result. Someone allowed a flawed piece of software to be used, and it has killed people. :( There's nothing physically wrong with the Max. It could be flown perfectly well without MCAS.

I have often landed at Toulouse Blagnac, and never noticed, from the air, any runways other than those that are used by the scheduled flights I take. In this video we clearly see a building marked "Toulouse Blagnac". The Airbus which crashed during a test flight took off from Toulouse Blagnac and was intended to land at Toulouse Blagnac. There is an excellent video here on KZbin relating that accident. Worth watching, particularly if you believe that test pilots would never omit to respect safety considerations.) So, does anyone have any proof that Airbus has a private airfield at Toulouse?

I strongly dispute the "Most Modern Airliner" comment for the A350. I have flown in an A350 several times on long haul flights from Helsinki. (I really love the A350...) The 787 goes one better. The A350 is mostly "advanced" by the use of carbon fibre. But the 787 is all that and a much lighter electrical controlled, control surfaces, not just conventional hydraulic systems. As for avionics, different manufacturers, different concepts. But after the Air France A330 was mismanaged into the ocean while in flight from Brasil, Airbus did NOT skimp on the nose sensory redundancy. One AOA sensor on the MAX... (There is an old Italian word for that...)

The 777 freighter doesn’t have Pratt & Whitney engines, it has GE90-115B engines.

Airbus used to scoff at Boeing using 2 engines on their long range widebody planes. Now they are going in that direction with the 350.

"the pilot [is] in full command of the capability of the airplane" -- HAHA Boeing. How'd that work on the 737 SUPERMAX for ya?

It’s not about “Ha Ha”, you stupid little man, two aircraft were lost and hundreds of people lost their lives. It’s not about Airbus Vs Boeing, we all have to travel on aircraft made by both manufacturers, so the most important thing is safety. Boeing and Airbus are not a football team that you would support and hence be a fan, thus mocking and bantering with the other.

I do hope the concept was only a pretty picture, and not a genuine proposal. The first and most obvious problem with the design is engine positioning. The intakes are in the perfect place to act as vacuum cleaners for every surface the plane moves across. They need to be mounted above or behind the wing to prevent FOD ingestion. However, the A350 is the most beautiful airliner since Concorde.

Oh MY GOD for a trip of 1800km's you will need 4500-5000 liters with 100 passangers!! Holly Molly, 5000 liter for my car is what it uses over 15 years or maybe more :)

I agree that they are improving the efficiency of the aircraft itself ..... in terms of quality and performance. However, the bottom line is, for commercial airlines, if this does not translate into passenger comfort and low cost, the entire efficiency and the performance of the aircraft is totally useless!! Passenger's comfort for a low cost is the key! Go figure this out and comeback with the passenger-comfort-and-low-cost-oriented information!!

The thumbnail kinda looks like a great white shark with a line coming out of it's mouth. You have to keep looking for that to happen and let your eyes wander a little. Much like the old lada/young lady drawing.
