I really like companies that do testing to make sure that the stuff they sell will work like it's supposed to. I see so many sellers who don't even know how the stuff their selling works.

Awesome, would love to see a discharge test of one and see how far that goes!

Would be interesting to see how well it does on current limiting. I assume one should have a fuse as well but might be interesting to use BMS as a “soft fuse” to protect physical fuse from burning out.

This is a rebranded daly. Normally they are overspec and can be programmed to limit the amperage for both charge and discharge current. For example, have a 100A rated daly and when the app is opened, the limit is both set for 150A which exceeded it rating. It can be set to lower than 150A but cannot exceed it.

He has "Daly" BMS in the title so he's aware of that

These BMS's have separate MOSFETs for charge and discharge, despite being 2 wire "single port" types. The internal diodes in the MOSFETs dictate that this has to be the case. So they will have half as many charge MOSFETs compared to the load MOSFETs. Hence I wouldn't push the charge current greater than 150A if you don't want to let the smoke out. While the case might be cool to the touch, the junction temperature inside the MOSFETs may be over its limit.

I run a Daly 24v 150amp for over a year have never had any issues on mine

i think the BMS has 2 mosfets, one for charging and one for discharging.

Does the BMS lower the current to do a proper CC/CV charge like a lithium battery charger would?
@HighTechLab Жыл бұрын
No, the BMS is a safety device not a charge regulator

That is amazing and, I am 100% jealous of your equipment!!! That HP6050A Is $2,000-3,000 Used on ebay ALONE!!!!! WOW!!! ♦️What is the approximate cost of the entire rack that you have?

If I bought this whole rack used it would be about 30 grand

Have you ever changed Daly's 2ga wire leads, to larger, longer wires of your own?

i have a daly bms and the current showed is not constant. If i charge with 50 amps, the display fluctuates between -2, -15 and -50 amps. is it defective?

You could have your blue and black wire reversed.

I have a crazy question. Could I use a 500 MCM cable for my skoolie? Would it be too much power?
@andysmith35603 жыл бұрын
How long did you charge at 200A for? I'd be interested to know how long it can accept that current before something bad/expensive happens. I'm looking at Daly for 12v alternator charging but have to go up to 300A spec to get the max out of charge capacity of the alternator. If Daly can hold that amount of overcurrent, I can go for a lower rated device and save significant cash.
@randybobandy98282 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt go to far over the recommended max current.
@pashko903 жыл бұрын
Can you test it over 200amps?200-300amp range?

Yeah just need to reconfigure the equipment for that because that battery pack is at its limits

I'm not a fan of Daly BMSs because their cutoff voltage is outside the spec for LFP cells. I moved over to the Overkill Solar BMS and it is right on the money.
@HighTechLab3 жыл бұрын
That's where the smart BMS comes in because it is programmable. I totally understand though we are carrying jbd BMS now
@kingsamoanOG2 жыл бұрын
Their smart bms with BT you can program any of that without a problem
