Now I drive San Jose-Soquel and Old Santa Cruz Highway because what you sing about is all so true! Seen the TV too!

Then there was the time in a major storm when a very large redwood fell across all four lanes near summit road and everyone was stuck for miles and miles. I was three cars back. No cars were crushed because for a change everyone was driving safely.

Safe driving on 17 doesn't have to be an oxymoron. Glad you were okay!

+Glen Morrison Thanks so much, Glen. Glad you liked the song - and the video. It's especially fun to play on the air during drive time. Check out my "Hang It Up" video if you're browsing my KZbin page - or my web site. It's sort of the unofficial sequel to the song.

They've tried to change the road to make it safer, but the clueless lawmakers wanted to keep it because it was a scenic highway. Guess when a road gets changed the scenery i'ts on disappears!

I knew people who caused the need for the concrete barriers on 17. My favorite drive every. Except with those people.

I hear ya. Lovely drive w/o tens of thousands of commuters on, since it's such a grab bag of driving competency. And fortunately, I started driving after they put in the concrete barriers many decades ago. I can only imagine how much fun it was without those. Thanks for watching the video. ;)

@@michaelgaithermusic I have some stories for sure flying to SJ in a 240, as a passenger. lol One good one though. Stopped due to traffic and getting out to party. lol It's gotten worse since then. They were needed but sad.

@@michaelgaithermusic, it was a lot more exciting before the center barrier went in. And those were the days when I drove hot sports cars.

Absolute classic....10/10ths Appreciate the mention of "The Gravel Truck"...because who needs a deductible? Everyone loves dealing with pitted/"bullet-holed"/cracked windscreens AMIRITE? :D That said.....whyfor you no mention "KING KRANE" and "The Water/milk truck" (doing our best to make HWY17 a single lane hwy at the height of morning rush hr)...sigh.. :(
@michaelgaithermusic9 жыл бұрын
+dspmx6 Heh. Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. I think "gravel truck spittin' rock..." was the very first line I wrote for this. Maybe there's room for King Krane in a future verse. This thing's built up over time...was hard to fit every single iconic thing in, but maybe eventually...

+Rhan Wilson I only pretend to be. Backstory: Years ago, I sang "stay off of my ass" and my niece, who was eight years old at the time, said "Uncle, you said a bad word". I changed it, and it just stuck.
