Some dams flood roads, forests or farmland, otherwise he wouldn't be pulling them down. And the beavers don't live under the dams. They have lodges.

Where I am you can’t touch them without permits and you’d never get a permit if it wasn’t threatening personal property. Beaver dams are protected here for wildlife and the ecosystem
