Cop grabs 2nd gear at 9:06. These Buicks in the 1955 episodes are real CHP special order patrol units. They were built solely for the CHP and are lightweight (for a Buick) 2 door Special post sedans with the high performance Century/Roadmaster 322ci engine. Thus they have 4 ventiports in the fender the same as a Roadmaster or a Century. Very few of these cars survive today.
@jamesmarshall6396

Actually the Buick's were 2 door post Centuries built only for Highway Patrol cars. I did find one fully restored that was on e bay in 2015 and it was mint. That old 322 Nail head V8 ran pretty strong for 1955.
@customkey

God is honored when a person makes changes in their lives that pleases him, as the man Frank "Wood" in this TV show "Highway Patrol" shows to have done, "stripping off the old personality with its practices and clothing themselves with the new personality" that imitates God.(Col 3:9, 10 in the Bible; Note: God's personal name is Jehovah, Isa 12:2, KJV) However, only a few people really change their personality from one that lacks love, to one that shows agape love or self-sacrificing love, love that expects nothing in return, wanting to honor Jehovah God by loving him and their "neighbor".(Matt 7:13, 14; 22:37-39) At 1 Samuel 2, Eli the high priest, whose two sons were serving as priests in Shiloh and were immoral, haughty and greedy, was told by "a man of God": "Why do you keep honoring your sons more than me by fattening yourselves from the best portions of every offering of my people Israel ?.........That is why the word of Jehovah the God of Israel is: “I did indeed say that your house and the house of your forefather would always walk before me.” But now Jehovah declares: “It is unthinkable, on my part, because those honoring me I will honor, but those despising me will be treated with contempt."(1 Sam 2:29, 30) Jehovah is honored by those who carefully listen to him, which he honors in return, as David wrote at Psalms 18:20: "Jehovah rewards me according to my righteousness; He repays me according to the innocence of my hands." David was rewarded for his righteousness by Jehovah seeing to it that through his lineage (or "house of David") would come the promised Messiah or Christ, making an everlasting covenant with him.(2 Sam 7:12, 13) But those in the churches who profess to honor God, when the "litmus test" is done, they fall far short, unwilling to even use God's personal name of Jehovah, as Jesus said: "Why, then, do you call me ‘Lord ! Lord !’ but do not do the things I say ?"(Luke 6:46) On the other hand, those who "honors Jehovah" does his will.(Matt 7:21) They do as Isaiah 55 says: "Search for Jehovah while he may be found. Call to him while he is near. Let the wicked man leave his way and the evil man his thoughts; Let him return to Jehovah, who will have mercy on him, to our God, for he will forgive in a large way."(Isa 55:6, 7)

@@Mikael5732 Yes, as Jesus said at John 6:44, 45, that, "no man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him, and I will resurrect him on the last day (that began in 1914 with Jesus being crowned king of God's Kingdom, Dan 7:13, 14; Rev 6:1, 2)." "It is written in the Prophets (at Isa 54:13): ‘They (or the symbolic "woman's sons", see Isa 54:1) will all be taught by Jehovah (God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV).’ Everyone who has listened to the Father and has learned comes to me (as the premier "son" of the symbolic "woman")." How many of those who profess to be Christian are willing to "strip off the old personality with its practices" (Col 3:9) that the world teaches, that Christendom teaches, that can see nothing wrong with believing such falsehoods as "the Holy Trinity", hellfire, immortality of the soul, a clergy-laity class, the cross, Christmas, Easter, being fully immersed in the realm of "dirty" politics and thinks that God will bless them ?(see Jer 7:1-10) The man in this series called "A Reformed Man", showed some semblance of change from being corrupt to being more honest, more trustworthy. So, how many that profess to be Christian are willing to "put on the new personality" that is patterned after Jehovah God (Col 3:10), discarding that above false religious beliefs, and become politically neutral, allowing themselves to be drawn to and taught by Jehovah through is his Son Jesus ?(2 Cor 6:17, 18)

"Leopards don't change their spots".......but humans do. I stole as a young man. I got caught just once. The man who caught me didn't call the police. He sat me down and talked to me. He said he hoped I'd do the right thing in the future. He knew I went to a Catholic school across the street. When I left the store, the first thing I saw was JESUS on the cross. I knew. I don't steal. It's been 40+ years since then. I have a thing about it, like a phobia. St. Paul changed. He was a mass murderer. St. Peter changed. He was a ruffian, some today might say a thug. There is such a thing as repentance. CHRIST said "I will forgive you anything".

Did anyone notice that the car that the man is driving at the beginning is a 1946 or so Pontiac Silver Streak straight 8, but that the car he climbs out of after his accident is a 1949 Chevrolet. That's what you get with low budget T.V. shows. Good episode however. Very good in fact.

Well, now maybe we can retire that tired old cliche about 'a leopard can't change his spots'. Never understood that anyway, since people aren't leopards, they don't have spots, and they are capable of changing their ways. And yes, the old cars on this show are very cool. Too bad today's car designers have forgotten what great looking cars used to look like.

Well Mike the main reason was way back in the day but the highway patrol was created very very rarely did they ever arrest anybody and cuff em and stuff em. The California highway patrol way back in the day mainly served purposes such as accident investigation auto theft and stuff of the such. Course fast-forward some seventy years later almost things have changed.
