It's incredible. Sometimes I think the show stinks, like I did this one, then it turns out to be an amazing story. What a beautiful ending this one has. George became what he was but couldnt manifest : A man. He let his bother go and started working on creating a life of his own. Amazing. I love thiis series.

That mother is such a martyr. How do you have a child like that and never take him to the doctor all those years? It is like she doesn’t want I Improvement as she just wants to live in a bubble herself of the two brothers and the other brother’s guilt to control them.

Reading IS fundamental!!! George owes his intellect to his brother and mother constantly reading to him, though neither had the slightest idea of the good they were doing. This isn't just a story plot, I believe, and always have believed, that it's the truth, and Michael Landon succeeded in proving it. The actor who played George, unfortunately, died in a motorcycle accident in 2004. RIP. Since when was Mark a computer genius?!!! 😂😂😂

I also was wondering about that and this is what I found: Very interesting. Reality meets fiction. There is an author by the name of George L. Germain. This episode of HtH captured a story that never happened, although the hero is for real. Very fascinating. “George L. Germain was born in Bay City, Michigan. He is married to Luella M. Germain and they are blessed with three children: Larry, Rick, and Twyla. George obtained a degree in psychology from Central Michigan College and earned his master’s degree, also in psychology, from the University of Detroit. He is a retired management consultant. There is a book by George Germain (no middle initial) and I could not verify that those 2 authors are one and the same. Very fascinating, indeed. Successence: The Essence of Success Paperback - January

@ 14:23, "There's a pay phone down at the end of the hall." What's a pay phone? In the little town not far from my cabin, there is still a sign that says "Pay phone, 1 mile." It's hard to remember a time when we didn't have cell phones or PCs in our everyday lives. My dad and I finally cut our land line last year. We hadn't used the phone in over ten years.

Well there was the ultimatum that Jennifer the girlfriend gave too, "choose George or me" which is the sign that she may also be a narcissist just like his mother, and may cause him lots of emotional pain. Also it was obvious from the beginning that George would always be somehow a part of his life so saying he was not part of the package makes her sound like an idiot and a narcissist. I also see that the mother was overbearing and controlling but it's mostly from her lack of control over her own life and her grief at her husband's death. Once she gets more control of her own life and finishes the grieving process, and gets lots of therapy for her OCD and Narcissistic Personality Disorder then she can let both George and his brother lead their own lives to the extent possible. And Jennifer needs therapy too. Making ultimatums and living in a fantasy world that doesn't include disabled people means Jennifer needs therapy. I think they all ought to join Life Church Online too :) Jesus can help them all see every person as a person created by God equal to all other people, beloved by God and worth their love and respect, whether they are in a wheelchair or verbal/nonverbal. Whenever you start looking at people as not human is when you become cruel to them and you hate them or resent them and/or are violent to them. I have experienced this first hand as a human trafficking survivor which happened in my childhood. Everyone who raped me insisted that I wasn't a human. I knew I was human though, and that God loved and loves me.

@@LeutnantJoker She is a narcissist and that is hard to live with but at least she doesn't beat her kids and turn them into slaves in addition to being a narcissist like my mother did to me and my sister when she trafficked us to pedophiles as children. I'd rather live with this mother than my mother. She has some good qualities. Like she does read body language well which is helpful if you want her to help you with rescuing abused animals and fostering pets from animal shelters in her home or to turn her home into a wildlife rehabilitation center. She'd be good at that because animals can only speak with body language and no words. Plus she does have a lot of faith in what she cannot see and has hope, which means she would be good at being a missionary or helping the homeless find homes. Since she also has patience, that is going to help too since it takes a long long time to get a home when you are homeless since the system is broken. I know, from being homeless, how impatient people are and how little help they give. There is good in her; you just have to look for the good in people and help them to grow in their strengths instead of see the bad and criticize and then they end up getting worse and more miserable and more controlling.

I don't think I could back to Jessica after that. She was acting a bit selfish. What happens when they run into something during their marriage that "she didn't sign up for"? Would she just walk away from it? Unexpected crises are inevitable in life. And this was her man's brother for crying out loud... Pathetic.

@axiomist1076
@axiomist1076 4 жыл бұрын
No she wasnt heartless. She is a young woman just starting on her life and she wasnt willing to have to live like the mother. Maybe youre one of us old people and are looking at it from the viewpoint of old age. Try looking at it from the viewpoint of a kid who's all excited about getting on with her life and she has a huge burden thrown on her. After all, Paul was only giving up his life out of guilt because he hadnt loved his brother. George knew better than to be a "professional" burden and freed his brother and his mother, like a real man would.
@nolanboles8492

I can't say I don't understand her point-of-view, because I have a little personal experience. My mother-in-law became faced with a situation where she was almost entirely dependent on help from others--not nearly as drastic as George's, but it was still a state of dependence, and I was the person designated to provide a lot of the necessary assistance, in spite of having neither the training or background for it btw. This all happened some years into my marriage, and I can't truthfully say that if she had been in this condition during the courtship phase, I wouldn't have made the decision Jessica made to cut it off, and for the same reason. (I regret nothing, though, for I got two wonderful kids out of the bargain.)

Yes well this was made back in the 1980s when it was still advocated for...but nowadays not so much except for Christian shows who tell everyone they are Christian from the outset. Or other faith based shows that tell you from the outset that the religion requires the characters to be married before they move in together like stuff from India where a Hindu or an Islamic marriage is required before the characters can get together. I think this show is meant to be a Christian show because they are angels.

Well, i feel the episode didn't exactly deal with the supposed subject, not in a raw way, at least. Instead, it just used technology to make it easy and solve it all. But how would such a problem be solved *before* technology allowed it, when there were no electronic chairs or computers? It shouldn't have gone around the heart of the problem, the dillema, the conflict between love for family and dreams. There isn't an easy answer and the episode authors didn't even *try* to risk that answer because they inserted a deus ex machina.
