I had no idea this kind of thing was happening to people when they were young. On one hand I understand the doctors not understanding what to do but on the other hand I feel like it's an atrocity being enacted on people that have no say in whether that's what they want or not. Thanks for the educational introduction to the topic. I really appreciated it.

This is the intersex representation my life was missing. Thank you so much! Love your clear explanations, funny editing and calm voice. Honestly, any intersex related topic would be appreciated. But I'll let you know if something particular comes to mind:)

I am just happy to learn whatever you have to offer/want to teach. I don't necessarily want to push you on way or another. I love your videos and I find them very fun, and more importantly, very informative!! I also appreciate your labor. As a nonbinary queer person myself, it can get so tiring explaining things to people every day and fighting all the stereotypes. I admire your courage and strength. Keep fighting the good fight!

I have developmental secondary hypogonadism. So basically, I have "normal" testes (and genitals overall) but my body has produced less testosterone than the norm, since my birth. The cause being within the brain (the brain is involved in T production too). So I'm rather close to Path B. But I still have several secundary sex traits that are variant, and that was enough to be stigmatized and socially excluded and targeted for violence (bullying, rape, physical violence, more bullying...) and socialized as "lesser than" (lesser than dyadic boys and often lesser than dyadic girls too). I also spent years wondering why I wasn't normal and feeling like the Ugly Duckling. I even wondered if I was trans for years (I wasn't, but I'm not cis-dyadic either). So yeah, I identify as intersex. And I honestly prefer to see myself as intersex rather than "just a male with a illness / anomaly / deficiency". And I also didn't have the same socialization as cis dyadic men (even gender non-conforming ones).

I'm transgender and genderqueer and love learning more about gender/sex diversity. Thank you go making these videos. I'm not intersex, as far as I know, but learning more about intersex helps me realize the beautiful varieties of the human body. And yeah, it's heartbreaking about genital mutilation done by doctors. :(

I finally let the cat out of the bag, declared myself as intersex and moving forward without having a secret is a lot easier. I look a certain way because thats me. The person in the room who is mostly hairless, hasnt got any eyebrows, and my phermones smell like a female but sort of looks like a guy but isnt, that's me... Confused yet, I know what it feels like.

Hiya! Thanks for your videos. Very funny and informative! I must admit I don't know a lot about intersex people. It's great to get the education from someone who is actually intersex. Keep up the good work!

Your videos are absolutely wonderful. Informative, insightful, and well-designed for the layperson without any condescension. A topic I'd love to see if you've time/interest/willingness: maybe the kinds of things to be aware of in terms of self-care with different types of Intersex? Some I know have described scenarios where doctors weren't particularly informative or dispensed outright harmful advice, and at least one (my very dearest friend) lives in a rural part of a state that's - to phrase it as delicately as I can - regressed where certain medical topics are concerned, and was never particularly good at handling others. He's only just now learning about some of his needs on the dietary and medication fronts. It'd be great to have some basics, from good questions to ask doctors to foods and how to handle crises, what to have on hand. For his and others' sakes, and also for my sake because it's very important to me, as his best friend, to be able to fret competently and pester him into good health.

I'd love to talk about self care when going into medical appointments. That also goes for things like challenging claims and asserting/learning your own needs, like it sounds like your friend is dealing with. Great suggestion, I hope to do it soon. Thank you!

Hans, Would you consider doing a video about XY intersex athletes? Can you discuss both the arguments for and against XY athletes competing in women's sports? Thanks
@hihellohans5 жыл бұрын
I definitely would consider it! My immediate thought is, I might not be the best person to go deep on the science of it, though... Plenty of others have, in great ways. First, this video that interACT consulted on for Vox is my top recommendation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5qml6eKgbqteas And are you familiar with the work of Katrina Karkazis? She's one of the leading experts on debunking myths surrounding sex and athletics. blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/4-myths-about-testosterone/

I have a question. Do most intersex people WANT to be considered part of the LGBT+ community JUST for their intersexuality? Because if that's the case I'll use LGBTI+ more often. But if they don't, I don't want to do that. Because I know you can be intersex AND another LGBT+ label, like gay or trans, but not all of them. Do you guys STILL want to be LGBT+ even if you don't identify with other LGBT+ traits?

Is it possible for an intersex person to have a body that is a complete fusion of a conventionally male and female body, to the point where they also have both male and female features and genitalia that are fully developed and functional? Is it the rarest form of intersex?

How about the term genetic abnormality, genetic defect. An extra hole between his legs. Sorry, I was born at a time when the child was never to be told about the surgery. The doctors did not know I was more complete than they could imagine. The effects being a complete female body with male parts and a beard. I can pass as a biologic female. The term intersex comes long after I was born. I am a true hermaphrodite.
