I know this is an old video but I just found you today and I love your videos! This video is especially relevant to me right now. I reverted about half a year ago and currently am "testing out" hijab. I dress modestly most of the time but I am wearing hijab part time to see if it feels right and I think i want to slowly transition into having a totally halal wardrobe. When I go shopping I literally pick out clothes for "home" and then there's clothes for wearing out. Lol Hey u can where the t-shirts with a cardigan/jacket if its not super tight. And sometimes highneck crop tops are good for covering chest area if u wear a jumper that has a lower neckline. Just some ideas. 😀 😆 U could do a video on where new Muslims can find modest clothing. I've been Muslim my whole life and its always a struggle lol.

4:18 I totally do the same thing! I thought it was just me. It’s good too because sometimes you cross your legs or need to lift the skirt a bit to climb stairs or walk in the rain or something. I wear them under calf length skirts, too, so I can enjoy a shorter skirt without showing my legs.

SALAM sister. From Canada. After many years of back and forth. I am now going through all my clothes and giving what is not modest (short skirts, bikinis, shorts, revealing clothes...). I decided in the end to wean myself slowly by buying an abaya once or twice a month and donating 10 pieces of clothing each time. I can understand the emotional attachment to clothes. It's a real thing! As for hijab. I keep flipping back and forth wearing hijab. One thing is that my hair keeps falling out!!! Thank you for doing this KZbin. Bless you sister.

I have so many questions in reference to your choice of wardrobe... Not being rude at all, I'm genuinely curious. I too choose to dress and live very modestly! Only wearing skirts with leggings underneath- some of which are 3/4 length, but all my skirts are ankle length, +/- an inch. And then just sensible tops: nothing tight/formfitting, or cropped, keep the neckline higher(however it's probably a touch lower than most hijabi girls), and nothing sleeveless, however I do wear sleeves above my elbows. And if one garment doesn't fit within those parameters for some reason, I either don't wear it, or I double up- sort of like you described you doing with a couple of your clothes there. I also make a lot of my clothes...dresses I should say! It allows me to use fabric that I know I'll be able to stay modest in, whether it's lighter weight and cooler, or heavier and warmer. I can choose exactly how long I want it, the size of the neck, length of sleeve, how the bodice fits, etc. Plus the little details that I can change up...belts, buttons, zippers, pleats, gathers, ruffles, bows, and on and on....I personally don't switch it up much, and keep it super simple and what a lot of people would call plain or boring. But when I was young (12-20years), I couldn't be bothered to take the extra time for all kinds of extra details. Then I got so sick that I couldn't sew...for 6+ years, and only in the last 18 months have I been able to get back into some sewing...but it takes me much longer! 10yrs ago I was able to cut out and make a dress in 3hours. So, while I have my own convictions and religious beliefs and reasons for dressing modestly, anybody can see how it can make life so simple! Being able to walk to my closet and go, " eenie meenie miney mo", grab and know that whatever I come out with, I'll be able to wear modestly! Another benefit, especially with regard to my dresses, is that they're exponentially cheaper than your average person's outfit; I can make a dress for as little as $5! However you don't get top quality fabric for that cheap, so if I were to go for top quality, "high end", I could spend $40-$50...but I don't remember the last time I spent that much! I bought some recently and felt like I was splurging, and it cost about $25-$28.00. And a dress is a whole outfit! I don't need leggings to be modest, I wear them because often I'm quite cold. AND, I wear a headpiece...I refer to it as a veil, however that would maybe be confusing to a Muslim, considering it doesn't cover all of my hair/face, etc. But I wear my hair pinned/tied up, like a hijabi, and then my veil over it.

Samantha J Boyle I'm a conservative, Anabaptist Christian. I'm a part of the "Mennonite" community/church, but most importantly, I'm a Christian. So one of my questions from the beginning of your video is, 1. does your hijab have to be solid color? With it being such an important part of your modest dressing, and your outfits now, personally, I would need to swith it up a bit. I really enjoy some variety. 2. I wouldn't get rid of your ball gowns...you can cover over the tops of them and still wear them. Or you can save them for some *REALLY* elegant, expensive, unique "lingerie" for your future husband! ;) 3. What is your footwear...standard?

Oh that’s cool! Christians are spoken of highly in the Quran and they’re spoken of as people who are not arrogant. 😊 No you hijab doesn’t have to be a solid colour. Our religion is made straight forward for us so until something is proven forbidden everything is accepted, and hijab is one of those things. So we can have any solid and doesn’t have to be solid. Yeah I’m planning on keeping the ballgowns lol.. too expensive to get rid of! Our feet also have to be fully covered although a lot of Muslims do not adhere to this rule. Only our hands and face can be uncovered so we can wear any standard footwear that’s closed in. I usually wear some converses. 😊

Samantha J Boyle oh, wow! I did not know that your feet had to be fully covered. There seem to be some vloggers who really don't follow...the guidelines? I'm not sure how you'd say it. So much as bits of hair showing, their necks, and their sleeves almost up to their elbows sometimes- I knew all of those were forbiden, but with their ankles and feet out...I didn't know that wasn't allowed. One thing I don't understand is how your allowed to take your hijab off at home, when even your brothers are around. Or around other women. We wouldn't take our veil off until we got ready for bed...or some people, even then they would have like a really old one...I can't, I have a constant headache/migraine and have to have time without any clips, pins, etc. And also, what must you wear to pray in? For us covering our head "all the time", like during the day while we are awake, and also in the night if we are awake and want to pray...we are commanded to pray always, to be in communication with God constantly, and we are also commanded to cover our heads when we pray. (Wow! How's that for a run-on sentence?? Yikes! I had a stroke 4.5 months ago and it effected my speech...you'd think by this that it effected my English and grammar as well! Hahaha!!) Anyway, hope you're doing well!

I Know that all colours are allowed except that some scholars say that Men shouldnt wear Red. There are much details and different opinions on that red subject 😅.
