Cool video idea. Hikaru plays a lot of brilliant blitz games that are worth deep analysis. The most inspiring ideas are found in the casual blitz matches between Hikaru and Naroditsky. Danya will drop a mental sac that seems to work... but then Hikaru finds the stockfish sequence that maintains the advantage.

it's a blitz game tho... and from what i noticed he usually plays the shortest - 3min version... i think it's really low and insanely impressive. keep in mind that his opponents are insane too so it's A LOT harder to do correct moves than we (or I) when we play our games. i, for example, would probably have like 20% CORRECT moves vs them, *especially* in a 3 min game.
@thatguy5233
@thatguy5233 3 жыл бұрын
i think a lot of it is about recognising patterns and experience (vs other good players and tournaments) so i wonder if an (relatively) old guy like me could have a chance to achieve something, considering i started *WAY* older than 8-12yo (*) i refuse to believe good players think like me, when playing chess, and they study each move one by one. they can see a series of 5 moves in like 2seconds... *literally

In case you wonder about these moves being brilliant or not. He said at the beginning of the video, "new brilliant move algorithm". Indeed It used to be a extremely rare to get it before the update. Now is just a human like in depth. Basically now those brilliant moves are high level puzzle game. That even you and me as intermediate players can figure it out too, with some time given ofc. I was able to do 4 of these 5 puzzle. And I'm not remotely close to Hikaru's level. The difference between him and me is astronomical.

it's much easier to find the brilliant move, when you know that there is one. try to find it in actual game with low time.
@taryth.
@taryth. 3 жыл бұрын
@@blackpuppy3940 Ye, just knowing there is a brilliant move makes you start to look at all the potential sacrifices first, and you are assured there is some winning line without truly needing to calculate through. In an actual game you would need to be sure there is still an advantage after a sac before committing to it

Enjoyed watching some of these, although one small thing that would improve the vid: stating which color Hikaru is playing (or which color is next to move), prior to showing his move--that way, it would let lower rating chess viewers (like myself) pause the video and examine the position to see if they could find the right moves.
