Cool to see the turkeys. There were plenty of them. Nice trail with lots of wildflowers. Glad the bugs were not bad. It is getting to be that time of year. That would be a great amphitheater for watching live performances. Those jagged jutting rocks on the ridgeline were awesome. Beautiful area. Well done on your video. Have a wonderful day, Jennifer.

Hi Steve! It sure was fun to see the turkeys... they made me laugh, esp the one who was running to catch up with his buddies. It was a nice forest walk, and I sure was surprised that I'd been to that theater! We went at night- what a great experience, great performance and awesome location. It was fun to check out the Pinnacles with no one else around- that's my first hike where I carried along drink with crushed ice- it worked out great! I've been there before when people were rock climbing and I just stayed by the parking area... it's a quick little explore with great views- thanks! Hope you guys have a fun weekend!

We’ve seen the Sound of Music at the Fifth Avenue years ago and it would be cool to watch it again from this outdoor theater with a beautiful backdrop behind. Did not know turkeys ran in tribes like that! Sounds like a brilliant start given the weather and no bugs. Wow sound of music in the mountains is a wonderful backdrop! I had just parked the car and there they were, popping out of the woods… and just when I thought they were all across, here comes the last one! 😂 It’s such a nice forest for walking! There’s a Bavarian mountain resort town close by, popular for winter skiing and summer hiking, plus other sports and shopping- 😁. At the state park you’re looking over the valley with wonderful orchards of Apple, peach, pear and cherry trees!! Thank you!! Hi and best wishes to Peter and Ruby 😁

Loved the honeysuckle something I used to have all over in my back garden (yard) for years until it unfortunately died off but the smell on a still summers night was amazing. Another late start for you, having said that, it still looked a real quiet trail and in the UK we call then Ladybirds (unsure why). Never expected to see an Amphitheatre on the trail but one thing for sure, 'the hills certainly are live' there! The second park did look like a climbers dream with plenty of rock face and plenty of colourful wild flowers too. Highway 2 looked busy, I know where I would rather be, cheers Alan

Hello and thanks Alan! We haven’t ever had honeysuckle in our yard, but I’ve walked in neighborhoods where they do have it- quite a lovely fragrance! Y, I’ve been to the second park before when people were rock climbing - those times I didn’t walk up through the hills- this time it was fun to have it all to myself. The orchards there grúa amazing apples, cherries and peaches, yum!! 😁☀️☀️☀️ Thanks, cheers!

I bet the turkeys were crossing the road because they were wanting to get to the “butter-ball”! The Mountain View’s and the wildflowers are breathtaking! The admiral butterfly was so beautiful! Hi Kaat, thanks! The theater is perfect for the Sound of Music, especially an evening performance! If you come to hike the PCT, you won’t be too far from Leavenworth… the town is just east of the pass. I’m hope to check out that area later this summer for day hiking. Y, the Pinnacles are pretty interesting rocks! Thx!! 😄 You probably recognize the eastern WA scenery with all the orchards/ 👌🍎🍏

Jennifer, getting drunk in an orchard is a great reason to cross the road🦃😊 That outdoor theatre looks stunning and an apt place to perform the Sound of Music👍 Some lovely wild flowers and butterflies🦋 The switchbacks were pretty awesome as were the Pinnacles👍

Y, I bet they got drunk pretty early that day! 😆😆 The theater sure was the perfect setting to see the Sound of Music- an evening performance in the mountains with the stars out. 👌❤️ It was pretty warm at the Pinnacles so I carried my drink with from lunch that had ice in it - that was a first, fun and perfect, kept me from getting too hot 🥵 . It was pretty nice to be the only one there! Thanks! ☀️☀️🌻🌻

Hi Bob! It was hard for me to realize it was that warm, even with the cloud cover. That’s the first time I went on a hike and carried an ice cold drink along… lol. It wasn’t too long of a hike and it sure was nice to have ice. That night and the next day brought a bit of needed rain. 😄👌💦💦 In the valley by the second stop they have apple orchards, pears, apricots and cherries. Have you heard of Aplets and Cotlets? They’re from this valley, Cashmere, WA. Thanks! 🍎🍏😄

Loved seeing the turkeys at the beginning, especially that straggler running to catch up to the group! Lovely hike and great location to hold plays - The Sound of Music would be very appropriate out in the mountains! Loved seeing all the flowers in bloom and hearing the birds. 😊

Hi and thanks Donna! Wasn’t that last Turkey funny! Wow, really cracked me up! Yes, it was the most amazing place to watch a play and the Sound of Music with that backdrop was magical. It was an evening performance and my son got the tickets and drove - so I didn’t recognize the theater until I saw the stage. I hope we can go again some time, but it is quite a drive from home - lol. Can you believe it’s finally summer! Thanks! Have a lovely day! 😄🌻🌻🌻

Hi Max! Wasn’t that funny… they were pretty cute! Y the switchbacks were pretty steep, but not too far up so they was good. It was pretty loose dirt so I went carefully so I fight slip. I’ve been there before when done people were Rick climbing, but I just watched from the bottom… was fun to go up and take a look! 😄

Picked up a few turkeys along the way 🙂. That was pretty neat. My cousin once lived in the Leavenworth area. I wish I had a chance to go visit her now after seeing it. Pretty area. Hwy 2 runs through a pretty little valley form the looks of it. The Pinnacles were pretty neat. Some good views from up there. Looks like ya had a good day! Enjoyed! Thanks for taking us along. Hi Karl! Weren't the turkeys funny- I loved seeing them cross and the last one rush to catch up! Y, the mountains by Leavenworth have lots of amazing hiking and the valley just to the east has amazing orchards- apples, pears, apricots and cherries- yum! I had visited the Pinnacles before but hadn't explored up the hill, just sat at the bottom- there weren't any rock climbers at the time, just me, so it was pretty quiet- loved the views- thanks!! Hi Bruce and Otis! Wasn’t that fun to see the turkeys… they crack me up! 😆 Yep, Thanksgiving and Christmas! It’s a really pretty forest area… we’re used to the Douglas Fir type forest, coastal I guess you’d say… it’s great to walk around in a fairly think Pine Forest- I think the reddish trunk trees are Ponderosa Pines, very tall and pretty. There were a few people out on bikes at the first stop, but I didn’t see any other walkers. Thanks! We’ve been watching the news from Boson and hearing about St. John’s the last few days… and saw you on the map too. Just heard the sad news about the submersible this afternoon… at least we know basically what happened to them. Bummer. Hope you guys enjoyed the longest day yesterday and are ready for summer! 😄🌻🌻🌻

Beautiful hike Jen. Absolutely love those pinewoods and the wonderful wildflowers. And great that you could identify the birdsong too. How cool to find the theatre again. The Sound of Music must have been brilliant to watch in that setting. Our daughter has played Maria a few times in theatres over here. Love that musical. Hope you can get tickets for a show again. Gosh that looked hot in the end - we’re getting some very hot weather around here at the moment. Some stunning views to finish with. What a beautiful place. Hi Dave! Wonderful that your daughter is so talented! It was fun to see you all out enjoying the Bruce Springsteen concert!! Isn’t the music from that play / movie the best! We grew up with it of course - 😄. The pibe forests are really wonderful… I saw the turkeys when I was parking the car and was hoping to see more in the forest, but didn’t happen to. Yes, I’m really enjoying the Merlin Bird ID app. I’ve learned a little more about the Nashville Warbler - he’s mostly all across the US- just happened to get named while visiting Nashville - (that’s the short version) lol. They were by the Icicle Ridge and then here too, didn’t see one but they are very vocal singers. Too bad it’s hot for you- we’re about average this week- hoping for some rain to water the garden and trees. 👌👍👍 Thanks so much and give my regards to Sue. 😄🌻🌻🌻
