Hike in Matang, Sarawak, Malaysia

This hike takes you up to the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Matang, To arrive at the starting point you will have to travel from the capital city Kuching for approximately 21 kilometers, depending on the route you take, followed by which you will arrive at the parking area. A fee of RM 5 is charged for parking. The hike is 3 km and the gradient is steep at some points but easy to climb with a moderate level of fitness. Along the way you will come across informative signages describing the flora and fauna of this ecosystem. You can take an alternative hike to the cottage of Beccari, who was one of the first botanists to catalog the Dipterocarps of Matang, Make sure that you reach the top by noon as the temple will close after that.
