8:10 I grew up in Mesa County, and hiked this trail many time throughout the years; absolutely beautiful. Regarding the top where you see the metal, those were once intact handles. They were "supposed to be completely removed to discourage anymore climbing to the cap," but for some reason, they were either forgotten or left as is. Although I can still successfully climb atop the cap, it can be dangerous. The handles need to be reinstalled or removed completely. Nevertheless, I'm glad you both were able to enjoy this wonderful trail. 🪶

The Monument is an awesome area. I agree that climbing the cap is not safe for the average hiker. We still had a great adventure and would recommend the hike to anyone. Thanks for the comment and happy trails to you.
