I used one of these. or a similar design, ( with the legs that need need to be connected rather than fully complete) on a campsite that required an elevated bbq to avoid burning the grass. I put a portable bbq on top as well and I have to say it worked really well. No damage to the grass. I even put firelogs on the bbq afterwards without problems. Really impressed.

Cool! Maybe a small, hand-held whisk broom for cleaning?

The one with legs that join together in three bits is ridiculously compact but with all of the other same advantages too. Think I’d prefer over the length of this one for carrying

How is the steel mesh hold up after 1 year? Did it burn a hole in the mesh? Thanks

It seems that you can buy replacement steel mesh, so I am assuming over time it degrades. But great video Hiker. Thank you :)

I had a question ! So I got this for the beach we often go and I hate to leave embers on the beach so someone steps on them. So I got this, my only concern was what if we had to go and the wood isn’t done burning, would you just douse it with water and that should give you enough time to dispose of the burnt wood without it being too hot to the touch. I’m just not familiar with making my own pits, usually we just leave it in the beach pits but wanted to make sure I followed through safely.

What size was the actual mesh? Most are 16" X 16" but that seemed bigger?

With the added aeration, I assume it consumes the wood more rapidly. Is it significant?

Not totally sure but I think it does consume the wood faster. I really liked how it kept wet wood burning so I would think if I was using properly dried out logs it would burn them down faster.

Fire scar? Sounds like something California would say as half their state burns down 😂

There are better ones now where the legs break down and the case is less than half the size. With actual dry logs this thing burns well enough it’s almost smokeless

Has the portable fire pit stood the test of time???

Should never put your feet under it. It's only a matter of time before some swipes the legs and knocks it over.
